@voodoo did it clear?
That section did. There was a new section just out of Palmy though, and then the motorway into Welly was closed from Aotea Quay - and in classic NZ driver fashion, the 3 lanes of traffic all merged into the inside lane 3kms out form the last exit
(so I drove around most of them...)On the plus side you’re leaving Palmy to go to Wellington. That’s a massive cause for celebration.

Not stopping in Welly, straight outta here to SYD - but the wine in the lounge is going down a treat

@taniwharugby no idea, didn't see anyone, just the motorway signs saying closed after Aotea Quay

@taniwharugby said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
@voodoo was that those numpties protesting?
I think it was protesting not enough passenger rail in Wellington or something like that.

Yep, John Minto and his mates got up on top of the signs on the motorway on-ramps closer to town.

@voodoo Are you coming to Auckland this month?
So coming to NZ again this week, but via ChCh as more efficient than flights into Auck on Qantas or AirNZ.
If any ChCh-based Ferners fancy a drink, I'll be killing time at the airport on Thursday between 12:30am and 7:30am clutching a couple of bottles of duty-free something...

Just in case any of you crazy ChCh bogans were actually thinking about this, my plans have changed again so don't come!

I am in covid jail...my 2nd round, that so far is even more mild than the 1st...but 5 days at home still, although if I use the day I first felt 'off' my 5 days ends tomorrow.
Only reason I tested was I was at a meeting with someone last Wednesday who then tested positive and have a colleague that is 70 and had a meeting scheduled yesterday with someone who is 60 too, so was for them really as all I have is some sinus pressure.
I can't recall when I was last jabbed, but I had been considering getting the normal flu jab for the first time in decades...
-
@taniwharugby is the 5 days still a rule or just a self-enforced quarantine?
-
FFS

@taniwharugby said in Coronavirus - New Zealand:
@voodoo rule as far as I know.
edit - covic website says 7 still, fuck that
🤦🏻♂️

Rule is actually 8 days because the day you test positive or get symptoms (whichever comes first) is day zero. So you can leave on day 8. The rule is ridiculous and smacks of laziness that the government has not removed it already. COVID-19 is no different to flu in 2023. Yet if I have flu I can go anywhere and do anything I like while sick. Ridiculous
-
@canefan It's a rule that's not enforced.
It's illegal to jaywalk. The isolation thing is being treated much the same by the general population.
A couple of days at home if you have flu or covid is a good circuit breaker, particularly as WFH is much more widely accepted.
-
@canefan well I reckon my 'symptoms' (as minimal as they were/are) started Saturday, I am almost back to 100% again now...what if I identify as a dog, thats like a month isnt it?
Yeah sausage rolls, mini mince pies...I saw chicken skewers too, plus my fave sweet, ginger slice/crunch

If you were better liked by your colleagues, they'd have surely sent you a doggy bag...
