Our youngest isn’t well at the moment, in fact both our girls are sick. Miss 8 is worse, last week complained of a sore throat then woke us up in the night vomiting the poor thing. Took her to the GP was no drama, they think it’s strep throat. Seemed to be coming right but then a couple days ago out of the blue vomited a few more times. Now her face is swollen and red and has a rash in some areas.
I took her myself to the same GP yesterday, this time they required her to come into the doctors wearing a face and seemed more cautious. -

So, as the other Covid threads seemed to have died off I'll post in this one - went to Uniqlo yesterday to try on some iron free shirts, only problem is they were temperature testing - I got rejected for having two high a temperature. So, I had to go to the Drs this morning to get my temperature tested before going to work, which was fine - but I wasted an hour due to a bloody clothes shop.

look at those test numbers in the last month, yesterday with the highest single day number of tests, based on articles on Stuff today (brilliant sauce BTW) and what I saw here we might go over 10k in tests today
So over 10,000 tested yesterday (10,436 - which is over 1,000 more than yesterday which was over 2,000 more than any day previously)

@canefan I was one of the 9K on Tuesday. Woke up with a sore throat, cough and headache. Normally I'd simply go to work and stay in my office but these aren't normal times. I rang Healthline but "there are 161 calls in front of you" so got on to the GP.
He said there has been a real spate of cases this week with exactly my symptoms. So I reckon it's a seasonal bug and people doing "the right thing".
I was 1005 convinced I didn't have COVID but.... If I had tested positive we would have been in a power of shit but I got a text at midnight last night to say I was negative. Still have to self-isolate until I am symptom free for 48 hours. So 33 hours from test taken to result notified. Pretty good I reckon.
Given media attention on the queues elsewhere, the testing facility I went to was giving out appointments ten minutes apart and I drove straight u, had the swab and was on my way. Not as bad as I had expected but hardly pleasant but was done in 10 seconds.
Doctor did say most testing centres have closed so to do 10K in a day is some effort

Considering my manager was one of 800 last Monday, and by Friday when I had mine they did 7800, no wonder the queues are so long. Results in 36 hours was a pretty good effort. Getting the message right is important though. I know they think they can assess risk, and so called low risk cases don't require self isolation of the entire household apparently, but seeing as they have a bunch of people who got released from quarantine roaming around untested, who knows who is at risk (you could have bumped into one of them at a cafe or the supermarket) and if you are positive what new clusters could your whanau have started in the 36 to 48 hours between the test and the result?

@canefan I live alone so not personally an issue but the generic documentation I was given said I had to isolate away from other members of my household until result came through.
I've been a bit of a nerd about keeping a record of where I have been going on a daily basis
Work - Pub # 1 - Pub#2 - Rinse / Repeat.... -

Work - Pub # 1 - Pub#2 - Rinse / Repeat....Considering that I was able to give my cold to my kids within a few days, if it had been covid19, what are the chances I would have given it to them and allowed them to take covid to school? It's not logical to me or the doctors at my work, you are either under suspicion or you are not

I don't lend my faces out. It just attracts attention.
You can get away with gloves though.

Not sure how busy it is locally for testing elsewhere but assume it is busy from my experience in Napier. After travelling Napier - Auckland - Christchurch - Timaru - Christchurch - Auckland - Napier last week for work, I came down with something on Monday.
I'm supposed to be doing that trip again next week, so called my GP to request a test on Tuesday. Still waiting to hear from the testing centre when I can come in for the test. Plan is now to wait until late Friday morning, and if have heard nothing since then, will check with the GP whether I should fly or not, as I am guessing I won't have any results back by 6:30am Monday morning...

That's pretty high.
Hahaha, I haven't quite reached the point where I have my minion proofing my Fern posts as well as my normal work.

@Stockcar86 Spoke to GP at 11.30 on Tuesday - had test at 3:00 p.m. that day. Results came through midnight Wednesday.
As I said above I was told that a lot of testing centres had been closed although I saw the tents going back up again at one today.

Man we need to slow the numbers of people arriving, our isolation facilities must be close to bursting.
While it is easy to say they are all in isolation, with numbers increasing as they are there is the risk of cases spreading in the facilities or mistakes being made and it slipping into our communities.
We may have dodged a bullet with those 2 ladies a couple of weeks back, which has forced our border/isolation to be better, these numbers may soon overwhelm these facilities...

How do you do that though? It's a massive legal step to tell NZ citizens they can't come home.
