I thought the message had been that if you moved from 1 level to another you were to 'take your level' with you?
Cindy on TV this morning, way she talked there is unlikely any change to alert levels...maybe Northland and Waikato might be allowed picnics though?
Also makes you wonder if some sex workers have been falsifying docs to move about, as to me that's the only reason why she this woman got tested, as she had been doing this already and been OK before, just now she tested positive...
-
Looks like I'll be trying to sell my house when the pandemic truly actually arrives. Open homes etc. Quite inconvenient.
Dont think it really matters from a big picture POV if my town gets 1 or 2 weeks before or after places like Northland or Katikati, but just my gripe...
Not like I'm running a business like some of you, so a bit of perspective I guess ...
-
Fingers crossed the vaccine might have saved this one from rolling out further.
-
@donsteppa meanwhile, the fate of Northland is in the hands of 2 prostitutes...one of who they still dont know where she is and the other being uncooperative...apparently they have 20 close contacts of the one that tested positive, but are unsure if they are in Northland or Auckland....

I thought I heard the PM clearly state this morning that they weren't sex workers.
Not sure why that would be important to most people anyway except being somewhere to direct their anger and feel morally entitled. It's a red herring. Just be fucked off that the idiots broke the rules and won't cooperate. That's more than enough. It's like Winston trying to drum up outrage about 'gang connections'. Jeez, I treat gang members like they have the plague anyway and keep well away so in my books they are a pretty safe group. Let it fester among them.

I think it's of interest because it's a pretty good guide as to whether physical distancing was adhered to, and whether or not they will ever cooperate with contract tracers...
-
@crucial I didnt hear her deny them being sex workers, and Winston was very late to the party on that front so he has nothing to do with it, his 'source' supplied the same information I had seen the night before, which included detail about movement with the MM leader.
The only thing I have heard actually refuted is that she travelled with the MM leader, most reports still sate 'suspected to be a sex worker' which actually makes alot of sense when you look at how uncooperative she is being given the reasons why they wont disclose where they have been or who with.
Plus, I wouldnt trust Cindy to tell the truth anyway, or at least what she hasnt been told...
Oh, and I am fucking pissed at these bitches, sex workers or not, they are selfish fluffybunnies...I have no idea what time frame they can go with us having no cases before relaxing us out of L3, I mean if they are sex workers, what dudes are gonna come forward for testing?
-
@crucial Winston being Winston. I heard the rumours from so many sources. All of whom swore it was well documented but couldn't show where. Then Winnie came out with his normal BS gossip mongering that stop just sort of anything litigious. Gets his publicity oxygen and then disappears back into the swamp. Whananaki looked nice though

The same people you say 'don't trust mainstream media' are happy to say 'but it s being reported all over the place'.
The fact that putting the word sex in a headline is guaranteed clickbait is a huge clue to make you be careful.
-
@dogmeat yeah one I saw said it was someone high up in the Northland DHB, but were a few parts of what I saw that didnt add up and also not quite lined up with other versions, but the consistent theme is around sex workers, and add in the 2 hotel/motels as locations of interest and time frames...

4 minutes in on the video. Advised by the police that there is no evidence to support the claim that they were sex workers.
-
@crucial but then says "Essentially, none of it relates to claims around working for gangs or anything like that - as far as I am aware."
I dont buy her BS...
Things point to them being are sex workers, if not, why are they being so difficult? What are they hiding, who are they hiding?
Why is this 2nd woman not even coming forward, we dont know if she is still in NOrthland spreading this virus, or back in Auckland spreading it.
As I said above, if they are, I can see WHY they are trying to protect the people they rooted, but in doing so, they are holding Northland at L3 due to too many unknown factors.

The key point being the last and whether they were sex workers, drug dealers or doing a tupperware delivery it is them not cooperating that is causing the problem not their profession.
Same applies to whether they had gang connections. Yep, gangs and many that surround them don't play by our rules but we know that already. They are less likely to cooperate but these women have already failed there anyway so wtf does it matter apart from triggering those that are law abiding.
IF, and a big IF according to Police (not govt) investigations they were sex workers I would say that their clients are well aware who they might be. If they are currently reluctant to get tested that also won't change.
This is one of the very good reasons that privacy and a little 'secrecy' are used with tracing. People aren't going to come forward and do what they need to in a climate that makes exposes them for legal acts they might want to keep to themselves.I get that it is pissing you off that you have been put into lockdown and I'd be the same but I just don't see how the profession or friends is the relevant issue. They are devious and uncooperative. That's all we need to know.

Perhaps if they have been sharing bodily fluids in close contact with others is quite relevant to spread of a virus.

I'll say, Jesus Christ, that's why some businesses can open while others can't as they are unable to meet the distancing requirements. It's absolutely central to the discussion.

Thing is that even with higher likelihood of transmission the result for their contacts is still binary. Are they positive or negative?
Without their cooperation the contacts can't be advised.
The possible good thing is that those contacts will be well aware that they may have been in a high risk situation and may get tested off their own bat. This is all speculation anyway. It's based on rumour. The police have stated to the PM that they have no evidence to support the rumour.

The last - rumour, or not, they should be tested and isolated if we are still going down an elimination strategy (which is farcical now). They will be upstanding citizens whatever their "profession" for sure given their actions...and likely to do their civic duty and get tested. Right?
As for the contacts what a joke comment. If they are sex workers their QR codes are on them are they? They list their clients? The clients want to be named as contacts? It's hugely relevant.
We need to abandon elimination. It won't fucking work.

I thought we already had? This is about containment. The one person identified HAS been tested and eliminated. It's just that they refuse to say who they were with or where they went.
It is massively frustrating when people wont work within the rules or cooperate further but what more can you do? No one even knows who the second person was and they are the one most likely to have contracted.
If the rumours are true then anyone who went to the named places to use their services will be well aware by now. -

@snowy Elimination is still the strategy outside of Auckland where we have moved to suppression.
For Warkworth and Pakiri it is a nuclear strike
How long is that going to work outside AKL? It's there.
As for North of AKL, (that isn't AKL) yes it is, but there won't be much here when they finish anyway.
Some tumbleweeds and empty shops, might as well nuke it. Fine by me.
