@voodoo haha I know right, am usually a bit more motivated...TR Jnr's TKD has had a location change, and while it is too dark to to my normal trail run (of which I have to walk part anyway cos steps) I just wasnt feeling it, which was odd given this 5km run is about as flat as I am gonna get round Whangarei!
i had that on my run last week. at the 7km mark i very nearly switched off the watch and walked back to the car.
but, you know, mental strength of a champion and all that...

I went for a run last night, cruising at about 5.30 per/km and then I realised I really fucking hate road (path) running, and walked the rest of the 5km loop.
Done this so many times haha. Ran from my place in taka down to devo (about 5km) then died of boredom and had to walk home! Reckon you'd 'enjoy' running golf courses mate.

Whilst on the MTB topic, my new frame arrived today. Giant are farken good. Offer a lifetime warranty on frames. Just brilliant
Rebuilt the bike last night so hopefully out for a test run over the weekend
What bike and what happened to the frame (out of interest)?
Every now and then I look at new bikes and always check out Giant, but then I really like my Scott hardtail and have good fun on it. The weight saving makes it so much easier on the uphills for this old man, and although it isn't as fast on a timed run downhill, I get a fun (slightly sketchy) hoon out of it. Different riding experience and I would equate it to turning off the traction control in a car.
The only stuff I won't go down on it is stuff I wouldn't go down anyway. I enjoy fast, flowing tracks with a bit of handling challenge so I'll probably only change if it breaks. You used to get sniggered at a bit on a hardtail from those with 4x the amount of $ tied up in a full suss bike but could gain respect by following them down a track. There's a bit of a trend back to them at the moment though as the tech in the new bikes is starting to make high intermediate/low black runs way to cruisy and the step up to big gaps and drops is beyond the skills or risk levels of weekend warriors. Hardtails have that more natural fun element IMO and are a challenge skill wise that provides a real sense of satisfaction.
You really need to get your bike down south though. Rotorua is fun but has some big jumps in technical ability to get over. The place has been a breeding ground of handout DH'ers for years and they built many of the trails.
Q'town, Cardrona and now Wanaka (with the new Glendhu bike park) are mind blowingly fun.Rode this trail 6x in a row one day, after doing the XC down from the top of Coronet 5 x. This is the most awesome fun trail I have ever ridden.

Mine is a Giant Trance Advanced. Just had a creaky bottom bracket as the bearing no long fit snug due to wear. Giant were goooood buggers and warranteed me a brand new frame, carbon too just like the old one (pictured)

Thank fuck it's not just me! I admire you blokes that regularly run 10km plus because I'm getting fucken bored just doing 5km. Reckon 7 is about my limit unless there's a particular 10km purpose/event.
for me, it's the only time i get to myself. If i don't have music then it gets a lot harder

@mariner4life yeah bloody headphones ran out 100m into my run yesterday, luckily only just under 4km! Anymore than that and I probably would've just rung for a lift home.

I haven't had running headphones for 6 months after leaving them in an airport lounge, never to be seen again.
I know I need to get some, but I just haven't gotten around to it.
Makes running very painful, especially when you get a painful song / part-of-a song stuck in your head (I'm looking at you @nzzp )

wait, that's still 1.5km in 33 mins! fucker
Just saw on Strava, it was actually 37mins
So I've gone from 3kms in 33mins to 1.5km in 37mins.
That's shit
