Down to 91 new cases in NSW today, that's the first sub-100 number we've had in more than two weeks. In her presser the Chief Medico said rates of testing were still high, so it looks like it could be a reliable figure.
It seems with every passing day it's looking more likely we will avoid a US/Europe style medical catastrophe. Just the economic one to worry about, then...
I may have missed it, but has any official said under what circumstances the restrictions will be lifted?
Welcome to the party Junior
Haha yes I wrote that in response to something a couple of pages ago and then ended up reading two more pages whinging about this exact point.

Look I realise my concern for liberty is coming off pretty poorly, but I've been WFH for over three weeks and only ventured outside my apartment to get supplies. One of the governments here has determined I can't go see my siblings or take this enforced sabbatical from the office as an opportunity to stay on the farm. I supported the initial restrictions while pointing out the behaviour of universities offering financial incentives for Chinese students to evade travel bans. I called for greater isolation and monitoring of people confirmed to have Covid 19.
All I'm saying is we're doing tremendous social and economic damage and it's becoming evident that this level of response may be massive overkill.
I agree with you mate. I think (and obviously hope) we have massively overplayed this. But time will tell. In the interim, I'll keep doing what I'm told and playing a straight bat.

Looks like we had another good day yesterday according to https://www.covid19data.com.au/
Total cases 5362 is an increase of 4.38% over the day before. Keep it going....
-
Way I see it we will never know if we over played it. But sure as hell know that US and Europe (most places) have underplayed it
I know which scenario I prefer. Read @R-L post about someone being told theyâre not sick enough to get help when theyâre struggling to breathe.
Yeah seasonal flu kills more but this thing is just getting warmed up. Every other pandemic has come in waves with the later ones much more dangerous than the initial. NZ pandemic planning modelled three waves. Basic maths. You donât herd immunity until 85% have had it. In Oz with a 1% mortality rate thatâs 220K dead people. Thatâs why governments are âover-reactingâ now not because of the handful who have died. Because of the masses that could.

The reno that the bro-in-law has lined up for deceased grandfather on hold after lines out the door at Bunnings.
Unsurprising because of the behaviour I saw in there the other day, despite all the signage. Employees were sort of ignoring it in rare cases, but fucking hell the boomers who just carry on like it is any other day.
Feel like coughing on the old farts.

Apropos to nothing .
Mrs Boo and I took a drive down the Esplanade (Nade in local patois) today prior to panic buying at the supermarket this morning (who knew that frozen chips are on the endangered list ... limit of two ... )
Went past the boat ramp.
Signs up saying essential use only.
Includes:
-
getting food
-
getting medical assistance
-
etc
Oh yeah and -
fishing
Seriously? "Fishing"?

I can only assume it is because you can maintain separation between people. Except for when they are in the gates just before they start
