I think they will select TTT again, as the AB coaches have talked about him being the closest to Smith in skillset.

TTT has done what exactly? Call up Bryn Hall or even Drummond, Finn Christie would have got a call if it wasn't for the appendicitis.

So why was TTT chosen ahead of Hall in the North Island squad? Obviously it had nothing to do with form as TTT hardly played. It could be any of the above halfbacks but often the selection is based on what that player offers relative to others in the same position than current form. And we are talking about the 4th halfback here.

With three specialist loosehead props - if one gets injured, you've got two weeks (two test matches) sitting there with the bare minimum the rules require (though in reality Ofa offers some cover).

There is also no way Ta'avao is an option at LH despite what the journos say. Just who that LH prop would be is anyone's guess.

I'd assume you'd want to take two props, a hooker, a halfback, and a 1st five - five of the ten extras (+ a replacement for Ennor). That leaves lock, loose forward, midfield (+ ennor replacement), outside back, + 1 more.

    @Tim i think its 12 extras. The 35 man squad included Ennor so 34 + 12 for 46.

A lot will depend on whether Laumape and S Barrett could be fit for the latter part of TRC. If they are then I would think Laumape is the replacement for Ennor and PUJ will be the additional midfielder.

Wonder who the next cab off the rank is?

Uncapped All Black Quinten Strange has left the All Blacks camp in Hamilton with an ankle injury.

The Crusaders lock is understood to be out for six to eight weeks, effectively ruling him out fo the upcoming Bledisloe Cup and Rugby Championship.

It would have to be Dunshea now. Compared to SRA his M10 Cup form has been average though.

Tupou Vaai might have just secured himself a bench spot for Bledisloe 1.

They can use Frizell at lock for Bled 1, too. Not ideal, but maybe better than a rookie.

It's not like Aust has a team full of experienced locks either outside of Simmons.

I am sure Strange would have to have played some M10 Cup games to be considered for selection.

Chirst, there can't be any fit locks left in the country!

Jordie and Ardie are both tall enough aren't they?

That reminds me... I was meaning to highlight this little passage from RugbyPass, especially for you, @m4l...
From an opinion piece entitled "The 11 players the All Blacks should call upon to bolster their Rugby Championship squad"

    Scott Barrett
Scott Barrett underwent foot surgery in June, but they reckon he could be good to go by early November, so it will be interesting to see how the All Blacks bring him up to speed in the middle of an arduous Rugby Championship.
He is, of course an automatic selection in any national squad when fit, so move aside, you younger locks.

I'd rather play a genuine lock, it's not like Frizell is a vetern like when we did that with Kaino (and it didn't work well with him either). At the very least you are getting some experience into another lock option.

TBF, no one has mentioned him as a blindside option so I'm good with everything at the moment.
