i do think we are very close to them having to leave this period alone
I would love a Knights of the Old republic era movie, proper high republic warrior monk shit, maybe some of the mystical stuff, hell a jedi indiana jones tracking down ancient temples and stuff
Now that they establish the idea that there are many Jedi alive it opens up lots of story lines. Have they said what the subject matter of Taika's SW film will be? I seem to recall him saying it will be off the main track. The series about Ashoka should be good
thats kind of what i was getting at before though, it will become a bit of a joke if we see there are loads of them out there doing bugger all to fight the empire and why im kind of "let it be"
I didn't mean loads. And they certainly shouldn't band together in significant numbers. But a character like Ashoka can get up to adventures in a Mando type way, with cameos from various Jedi, Sith or other established (not necessarily majn) characters along the way
-
@Kiwiwomble I don’t think it does necessarily. The importance of the Jedi Council in leading the work of the Jedi was central. Now that’s been turned on it’s head, it does lead its hand to more freelancing by individual Jedi.
-
fair play, i just feel if the stories are good enough to could put them at a different times and avoid shoe horning more shows in risking it looking a bit silly
-
I don’t disagree with the risk of over doing things and trying to fill holes that don’t really need to. But this series was centred on Leia and rightly so, that was a big gap because A New Hope gives us the early Luke story.
But the ending showing a first meeting of sorts and then the jump to A New Hope where Luke is talking about Ben as a great man as if there is this intimate knowledge of him. Well he wouldn’t have got that knowledge from ol Uncle Owen…

Uncle Owen warming to Obi Wan and asking if he wants to meet Luke is at odds with the “crazy old man” talk from ANH. I wonder what happened there ?
-
@ACT-Crusader i might have to go back to watch that scene for ANH, i never remember feeling Luke had any feelings towards BK other than the "old war vet" that lives as a bit of a hermit, and i thought that last scene did enough to suggest Owen would have been much more generous over the next decade
-
@Kiwiwomble there’s little tidbits early on and then later on when Luke and Solo are rescuing Leia. Solo asks Luke where he found that old hermit and Luke talks about Ben being a great man etc

oh, i figured that was all more based on their interactions since "meeting", finding out he was a jedi, that he fought in the clone wars, kind of the very american "thank you for your service" as soon as they find out someone is a vet

One of the key lines is Leia's excitement that 'Kenobi is here?'
yeah, i was talking to the wife after the series ended that they might never have met again, the next time he sees her might be through the doors just before DV kills him
-
@MN5 yep. Perhaps there’s a missing story in there that could possibly link Luke’s desire to join the academy (and not be a farmer) to fight and Owen’s reaction and disgruntlement with all things Jedi / empire / life. On one hand Owen is turning on OWK but on the other Luke thinks highly of him.

[pedant alert] Come on, DV never killed him, he went the way of the Force…

...but didn;t he still have to die to become one with the force? never heard the idea vader didn't kill him

I'd like to see a series based on the trench type warfare, between the Empire and I assume Rebels, from Solo. No Jedi, no Skywalkers, just a straight up show about new characters fighting in those wars (so kind of like Rogue One) but I'm not sure that's a direction Filoni would want to go.

might of been in this very thread, i saw a funny vid about stormtroopers in trench warfare, they see the glow over the top, one asks the other what colour it is...his back is turned...i think we can sneak up on him

My recollection was that Luke wondered, but did not know Ben and Obi Wan were the same man. Owen dismisses the notion and calls Ben the crazy old man, probably to continue his protection of his nephew
-
im watching it now, first conversation with owen he just says he wonders if Obiwan is related to old ben kenobi, doesn't seem to know anything about him other than he exists

No he didn’t. He hadn’t heard the name Obi Wan until R2 and CP3-O rocked up with Leia's message.
It’s nice when someone else does the video work 😉

Which ties in with what Kenobi agreed to do. Stay away

But when he is knocked out after looking for R2 he comes to and says Ben Kenobi, I’m glad to see you!
