The Arsenal make a satisfactory start, claiming the Community Sheild. 1-1 full time and winning 5-4 on Penalties vs the Mickey Mousers.

I had created a new thread for this season so the mods can merge.

Half the Sunday papers saying Messi is going to Man City, half are saying he will stay put at Barcelona. Clearly different sauces.

La Liga have issued a statement saying Messi's 700 Million Euro release clause stands. Unless Man City's lawyers can challenge that, he stays at Barcelona.

we only talking Premier League or "lower" leagues allowed too?

Wimbledon fan here, one of the most important years in our history this year, we finally move back to our spiritual home on Plough Lane, stadium looking great

@Kiwiwomble I should say "all European footy" 'A' league has a separate thread each year.

@Hooroo you might regret that 😉

this is a dream result for us, new ground only a couple of hundred meters up the road from the old one, 30 years after we were told there was no space for us in wimbledon and were sold and shipped 50 up the M1

Was it in 1990 you went to Milton Keynes??? I thought it was later than that (2000/2001/2002)???

@Hooroo ive combined a couple of things for simplification sake

Wimbledn FC ceased to be in 2003 and MK crawled out of a sewer somewhere

We had to sell plough lane in 1990 and groundshared with palace for over a decade, so havent been "home" for 30 years

That makes sense. I was there when MK Dons first started and the backlash from the fans made a fair back of back page reading.

Was Vinnie Jones playing for Wimbledon when he grabbed Gazza by the nuts?

Was it? Did anybody think he had the stones to leave?

    I certainly didn’t.

The way I read it was that he has a 700M euro exit clause and Messi didn't want to fight the club in court over the terms (originally he argued that the June expiry date in the clause should have been changed because of the altered covid19 season). He's free to leave in 2021

Messi has given an interview. He said his wife and children were in tears because they didn't want to leave. He said he has made his life in Barcelona and can't think of a better place, but as a footballer he wants to win competitions. He stays for now.

@sparky I think Barcelona would be much nicer to live in than Manchester. But its all about that 700M millstone

just because i dont have many to talk about this with i'll just stick it here, new stadium looking great

also unbeaten in the league, 2 draws and a win and scoring 7...feels weird, will just be happy with some mid table mediocrity

sorry, we discussed it just a bit further back, Wimbledon, we'll be moving back to a new stadium on Plough Lane pretty much 30 years after having to leave when we were told there was nowhere to build a new stadium
