    @MajorRage said in UFC:

@Duluth she’s destroyed Tate, Rousey and now Cyborg. Not beaten, destroyed.

Yes, she's the best female fighter of all time.

But the depth of fighters she is up against is not comparable to the men. The womens divisions are still so immature.

This fight was in the 145 division which is a complete joke. The UFC don't even bother keeping rankings in that division because not enough fighters are signed to make a list out of.

@Duluth not her fault that though. You can only go against what’s out there.

    @MajorRage

    Of course.

..and its the same for men fighting in shallow divisions

Its a bit like Valentina Shevchenko who I think is a fantastic fighter but it's really difficult to rank her

She's had two close losses to Nunes, but her natural weight is 10-15 pounds less than Nunes. Then she dominated Joanna who belongs in another weight class.

Shevchenko might deserve a high p4p ranking but it can't be justified yet

Well there's not much sport to discuss right now so I thought I'd make a fool of myself with some shitty predictions.

Copying the idea from this article: ESPN how-every-ufc-weight-class-title-decided-next-year

Who will hold each belt on 01/01/2020?

    My guesses:

Division Champ at the end of the year
    Flyweight TJ Dillashaw
    Bantamweight TJ Dillashaw
    Featherweight Max Holloway
    Lightweight Tony Ferguson
    Welterweight GSP
    Middleweight Israel Adesanya
    Light Heavyweight Jon Jones
    Heavyweight Stipe Miocic
    Woman's Strawweight Tatiana Suarez
    Woman's Flyweight Valentina Shevchenko
    Woman's Bantamweight Amanda Nunes
    Woman's Featherwight Megan Anderson

Flyweight I believe the rumours that they are shutting this division down. So it all depends on this weekends fight. If TJ isn't killing himself to make weight (it's looking like a really tough cut) he'll have too much power

Bantamweight TJ slightly better than everyone else

Featherweight No contest for Max. Only question is if he moves up a weight before the end of the year

Lightweight Ferguson stops the Khabib winning streak if the fight ever happens

Welterweight GSP gets offered a shitload of cash to fight at welterweight. UFC desperate for a more marketable champ than Woodley

Middleweight Nigerian Kiwi beats Aussie Maori in kiwi-ish title fight

Light Heavyweight Jones. Booo! I guess the prediction here is that he doesn't move up and doesn't fail a drug test

Heavyweight I think Stipe beats DC is they fight again. But the probably don't. DC retires after beating Lesnar then Stipe reclaims vacant title

Woman's Strawweight Rose looked great against Joanna both times but I don't think she matches up well with Suarez

    Woman's Flyweight Easy for Valentina

    Woman's Bantamweight Easy for Nunes

Woman's Featherweight Division probably gets shut down. Nunes doesn't seem keen to fight Cyborg (probably smart - she doesn't have much to gain and could easily lose). Cyborgs contract ends soon and I don't think she gets resigned. I'm picking Nunes to get stripped of the belt while she defends at 135 and if the division still exists Anderson is the best of the rest.

Any predictions from @MiketheSnow @MajorRage @raznomore or anyone else?

McGregor and Khabib will be in the mix.

    Ortega and Stephens too.

    Whittaker to beat Adesanya.

Thiago Santos to put Jon Jones' lights out please.

And lets see how Velasquez returns.

Good summary - I don’t see too much to disagree with honestly. I’ve not watched enough in the last 18 months to have a real handle across all divisions.

Only one I disagree with is Jon Jones - I don’t think he will hold the title - although I’m not sure who will. Cormier May drop weight to fight although I’m not sure if he has desire to fight him again.

I have one additional 3-fold prediction though.

Diaz McGregor 3 happens this year
It’s the biggest ppv by a mile
    Diaz takes it

@MiketheSnow @Duluth @MajorRage Yeah if Cain comes back anything like his best he clears out the division. Then super fights Jones.

For me, Jones is probably their golden goose now. He can go between LHW and HW if he wants to.

I think Thug Rose has done great to get where she is but I just don't think she has enough in her game to stay at the top.

Adesanya is my favourite fighter right now but I'm still not sure he is "the" guy to stop Whittaker.

Woodley is about as charismatic as a piece of chewed gum. Unfortunately, he just doesn't have anyone who can go with him. Even if Covington were to get his shot there would be maybe one round of feeling each other out and then quickly finished in the 2nd or 3rd rounds by Woodley.

I too think Ferguson will Bruce Lee his way to taking Khabib's title. Then I think Khabib will walk off to Bellator or some mediocre Russian fight promotion. As good as he is, he does not fit the WWE persona they want in their fighters. Nor does he speak English well and as we have seen with so many Brazilian fighters, you have to be able to speak to get uncle Dana to give a shit about you.

Wow Cejudo by TKO, not many were picking that. He's looked great over the last 18 months.

If he fights TJ at 135 it's hard to complain if the UFC does kill the 125 division

I'm not sure I believe TJ when he claims that was an easy cut.. some of the pictures earlier in the week did not look healthy

Cowboy Cerrone looked the best he has in years. He called out McGregor after the fight.. that would be a good payday for Cerrone. Conor needs a win against a name and it would be an entertaining fight

A few kiwis fighting this Sunday. Shane Young and Kai Kara-France are on the prelims.

Adesanya vs Anderson Silva is the co-main event

Then Aussie/Maori Whittaker defends the belt against Gastelum

Hopefully all the locals win and that sets up a Whittaker v Adesanya fight. That would have to happen in this region.. then there's a minuscule outside chance of a title fight being held in Auckland

@Duluth Anderson looks in very, very good shape. This is dangerous as shit for Israel but he should come through.

I think Whittaker loses the belt personally. There I said it.

Gastelum has a good chance with the speed of his power punch

I think Whittaker will hold the title though. I think he'll fight cautious until the championship rounds. I'm one of those people that questions Kelvins conditioning

    Whittaker Goooonnneeeee!

Was taken to hospital with abdominal pain last night. Has a hernia.

    Izzy is the main event.

Feel for Gastelum. It’s a long way to come to not fight.

    @raznomore

What percentage of cards actually happen as originally announced these days? It feels like every single card loses at least one of the main fights.

Both of the Kiwis on the prelims win

I thought Kai Kara-France might have lost that decision. I think he just got edged in round 2 & 3, very close rounds though.
Great chin from Paiva, I can't remember anyone else taking clean strikes from Kai so easily

The Young fight was entertaining. The UFC will push him.. they'll like his style
