Canterbury v Waikato
-
Smith must be unavailable after his head collision. A big opportunity for Reihana, I assume against Burke. I like this midfield combo.
-
@Bovidae Weird that Sullivan and Tupaea aren't switched around. I've never seen Sullivan play at 12 before.
-
@Dice I agree. Quinn is a better 12 too.
-
No first five cover? Coombes-Fabling might count I suppose. Can Rogers also play 10?
-
@Yeetyaah Coombes-Fabling was a 1st 5 at school and for the Waikato U19s. Rogers is only a 12/13.
-
Rather worried not having Fletcher Smith playing. Think he might have made canterbury work extra hard with his kicking and bursts.
-
No knock on from Waikato there.
-
Fair yellow card.
-
Great period of play from Waikato during the yellow.
-
Strange knock on calls from the ref so far
-
Ref is very inconsistent for both sides.
-
Cam Stone was quite good last week but he's missing a bunch of knock ons.
-
@Yeetyaah I generally find Cam Stone a very average ref.
-
Jesus he's bad. He's calling balls backwards when they're clearly forward.
-
@Yeetyaah At least he's consistent: he's making bad calls both ways.
-
The ref seems to basically hate attacking teams.
-
Gotta be a card coming soon
-
Looked like Messam dropped it.
-
Correct decision IMO.
-
Awful call
-
Rugby has turned into the NFL
-
-
I’m sorry but that is a shocker , a real hometown decision from the TMO ..unfortunately this is becoming familiar theme with not just the man sitting the stand but also the AR’s ..
-
Hames is a terrible commentator.
-
@Yeetyaah said in Canterbury v Waikato:
Hames is a terrible commentator.
Should be fine as ref then.
-
Finally a card comes.
-
Was the ball not out of the scrum there?
-
Stone is a disgrace
-
Penalty try coming up , it has to be if the scrum stays square

Bloody good stuff. Cam Stone was a disgrace.
-
What a finish
-
Well deserved Waikato , they stayed in the fight despite a shocker of a call, to be me it was still inconclusive that he has lost the ball, should have shown in real time as in slow motion..full credit to the visitors..
-
Luke Jacobson had a quiet start to the season, but he's really starting to find some form now.
-
@Steven-Harris Yeah just saw it, should have stayed a try. Still, they got there in the end.
-
-
How on earth did the tmo get to making the review on Messam try? Must have played it several times slo mo before the kick despite no hesitation from Stone. Replay looked like left hand stayed on the ball even if right possibly did not. Bizarre.
-
Waikato won that game twice!
The scrum has been a real positive in recent weeks, despite having a lightweight locking pair.
Thomson had a great game and is showing his experience but Osborne has been a waste of money. Show some urgency.
I did find the backline substitutions puzzling as I have no idea why Sullivan was subbed with Tupaea already off the field. The forwards did the business in the end while the backs become a little disjointed. Still, I'll take the 4 pts.
-
Would prefer Te Whare over Osborne currently. Hope Fletcher Smith back next week too. Thought Kautai and Iosefa Scott were great and Thompson and Finau also.
-
@Bovidae Patrick Osborne was playing as if he still wanted to play for Canterbury. Wasn't impressed by him at all tbh.
