23 Kurt BakerSecond five Ollie Sapsford is out with injury, meaning Danny Toala takes the number 12 jersey after a strong performance off the bench against Northland.
"It's unlucky for Ollie because he's been playing well but it gives Danny an opportunity now," Ozich said.
An opportunity has been granted to fullback Caleb Makene as well, with the 24-year-old selected over former Turbo Kurt Baker, who drops to the bench.
"(Makene) needs a chance to have a crack, and Kurt's played a lot of minutes through the pre-season and the last six rounds," Ozich said.As well as the Ranfurly Shield, the K.R. Tremain Memorial Trophy is also on the line.

@Number-10 Baker finally dropped huh!
This should be a big win for the holders!
-
@Number-10 Glad to see Baker demoted to the bench and Makene getting a start, who did well at fullback, last year.
Good to see Lowe make his return via the bench, which should mean that his concussion problems are behind him.
Pleased to have Toala back in the starting XV. Sapsford has been better than last year, but makes too many handling errors. I lost count of the number of times he knocked the ball on.
I love seeing that 8-9-10-12 Hastings boys combo.
-
@Stargazer A good enough team (with the possible exception of 18 and the definite exception of 23!) that should be able to win by about 30 on a poor day and as much as 50 on a decent day!

Just Propsicle has got their tips in for the third placed HB Team this week. Up against the South Island Team this week who currently lurk just the two points behind us on the ladder. They always manage to make things difficult for us whenever we take them on at Tipping particularly Smudge who seems to pull out a blinder against us. We will need to be at peak performance level for this encounter as a play off spot is not yet certain and with just under four hours to go before kick off in this round we need you @Number-10 @Stockcar86 @Paj @stargazer to put your thinking caps on to make inspired selections, other than the mandatory Home 17+ for the HB v 'Poo match, to help us out.

I thought NZR read the fern? They should know that BoP are The Bay. Useless.
-
@Yeetyaah That's a misinterpretation from the Fern. The real bragging rights are about who is the REAL Bay, not who can call themselves Bay (that's a Fern thing).

perhaps, ...I would argue the fern started it before any of the media got involved.Still a good bit of fun on the side nonetheless
-
What do we call this one? Battle of the Vikings? Or something idk.
-
The Poo defence has been annoyingly good so far.
-
And then the Poo score a long range try.
To be expected from their international laden team.
-
Why would they even need to go upstairs for that? It's not Reiko scoring the try.
-
Great try from Toala. @Stargazer please contain yourself.
-
Finally the Magpies get a try after a McClutchie chip kick for Toala to run slowly on to and catch, jog to the line and score.
-
Flanders scores after a great run by Makene. Good to have an actual attacking fullback in the team this week.
-
Makene so much better than Baker
-
Try to the Poo after a nice pass by NMS.
-
Makene in after a nice pass from McClutchie.
-
Baker can wave goodbye to that 15 jersey now
-
O'Connor in for a lucky try after not being held by the Poo defenders.
Halftime - 28 - 12 to the Pies.
-
Nick Briant has helped the Pooh enough for the game, I'd say. Fortunately, the Magpies didn't let the bad calls affect them. Just keep going!!
-
@Nepia That was the easiest of easy tries!
-
Visinia has been crash ball 3 times so far. Expect him to pass on the inside next time
-
Haven't watched a whole lot of Manawatū, is Waitokia any good?

Toala has been doing hit ups as well. I think they can use those two better.
-
Well that was an awful period of play.
-
I think this ref is trialling for a job in the NFL - he just doesn't give a shit about attackers being shepherded by their teammates.
-
that one that was ripped wasnt called as a knock on, reckon refs need to be more consistent about those calls

The one that Flanders ripped?
-
@Nepia yes, well not specificall,y more a general observation...some refs call it a knock on, some dont
-
FFS, Baker is on. His agent must be the best in the business because he clearly has a must play every game clause in his contract.

That’s a bad agent. The more he plays currently , the less likely he gets more work

I'm assuming this has to be his final year,
-
NMS is their Kurt Baker
-
Lowe about to come on
-
Bubba to right wing, Visinea off
-
Has Ash Dixon turned into the biggest whinge in NZ rugby? Don’t ever recall this when he’s captained the Maori or the Highlanders.
