Zarn covering ten. He hasn't had many minutes in that position as an adult
Hopefully Beehre & Kalapu go well. Auckland needs some new talent at lock. Are there any semi accurate stats on their height/weight?
Hopefully Vikena gets a start v Southland. Would like to see Jock too

This seems to be the most recent info:
-
@Stargazer Awesome. Do you have a link to the media guide?
-
@Tim This is linked from the Bunnings NPC Media page: https://www.provincial.rugby/bunnings-npc/bunnings-npc-media-information/
Not all provinces give the same info. For example, Auckland only gives a player's weight; other provinces also height.
-
@Stargazer Thanks.
-
@Stargazer Do you know much of Josh Beehre (out of Hastings Boys)?
Good to see some new blood in the team.
-
@KiwiMurph hes from up this way I believe (last couple of years at HB? @Steven-Harris) pretty sure i was a year or 2 behind his dad at WBHS.
@Stargazer Thats a great resource, I had never seen it before.
-
@KiwiMurph No, I don't know much about him. Tbh, he wasn't one of the Hastings Boys' players that stood out like some other players did, so he didn't really feature in media write-ups of games. I'm not even sure how many years he attended Hastings Boys, possibly 2, but not sure. Before that, he attended Whangārei Boys'.
Edit: his last year at WBHS seems to be 2019. He played for Hastings Boys 1st XV in 2020.
-
@Stargazer @taniwharugby Thanks!
-
Only Rayasi and Evans were in the starting xv for both matches
-
-
@Daffy-Jaffy Good to see some youngsters in there. If we lose, we lose but am happy to see us give them a go.

Congrats to Charles, hopefully he gets his shot. A good kid.

McKenzie has not appeared at all in preseason or the first two games. I guess he is out injured at present.
-
Turbos are putting out close to their best team, whereas we're putting out a B team. We should win, but I wouldn't be surprised if we struggled a bit in this one.
-
A classic moment against the Turbos from 2009.
-
@Dice Now those were some messy rucks! Who was number 20?

Yeah. I thought we'd never get the ball back with how many numbers the Turbos committed at the breakdown. Onosai Auva'a came up with a miracle turnover.
Number 20 is Auvasa Faleali'i. Still plays for Papatoetoe and Manu Samoa. Surprised he doesn't have an NPC contract.
-
@Dice Remember it well. We were cruising at 16-0 and then fell to pieces. They scored with about 3 to go in the corner and a young Aaron Cruden nailed a sideline conversion iirc before the winner at the end.
We had some very average teams then haha.
-
fingers crossed for a good game. Love midweek rugby.
-
Manawatu exceeding all expectations. Still nil nil after two minutes!

This is more fun than watching the ABs
-
Good break by Green 5 by the way, put into a nice gap
-
@nzzp The NPC is still the most important and meaningful competition for a lot of us.

it's embarassing how NZR have ignored it. I loved the 9/9/9 split.
On the actual rugby, the Aucklanders are using a rush defence! Fantastic and it looks effective! WTAF ... innovation?
-
THat 50-22 from Manawatu 15 was superb. Not much room and he nailed it
-
Turbos Looking better than Friday that's for sure😃
-
Auckland defenxe around the fringes has been terrible.
-
Good try Green
-
@nzzp D Mac has a son🤫
-
Impressive scrum from Hamdahn
-
how was he allowed a 2nd crack at that turnover?
-
Nice ball Rayasi to Jones
-
Shit. Thought I had missed the tipping start. Thanks KP for ignoring this dead rubber
-
Liking the look of Hamdahn Tuipulotu after an early scrum wobble.
-
our maul has looked good in the first two games this year. Fringe defence weak so far
-
Can't even be bothered criticising Simon Hickey anymore haha.

He plays like a classic structured 10, but without all the skills. They're there, but slow or inaccurate.
