Hawke's Bay v Tasman

@Stargazer Bit more firepower on our bench.
The longer we can last in the competition, the more I might get to say that!
Good to see Hugh Renton back.
We're still very light at lock. I wonder whether Cirikadaveta is injured or rested?
-
go hb
That is all, nothing to see here move along.

-
Cmon the bay.. ooops I mean Hawkes..
-
Frizell not fit yet.

The coaches have finally discovered that if Jonah Lowe isn't availabel (I assume he isn't), there are better options for the wing than Sapsford. Took them a whole season to discover that Fomai and Visinia are better, although I would have swapped the numbers on their back. Picking Smith ahead of Kaifa at 7 is ridiculous (again assuming Funaki isn't available), and so is Tiatia ahead of Makene at fullback, but hey, you have to have your pet signings in the team.It may be our last game of the season. I hope they go out with a decent fight and make McClutchie's 50th a good one. Great that he can play it with his mate Fakatava coming on in the second half!
-
For Tasman, is Parata injured? He looked ok at 10 , and I thought he would hold a bensh spot.
-
@Dan54 I guess they wanted to include the AB firepower.
Taine Robinson plays 10 in club rugby, so I guess he's the cover.

Steady slightly heavier than light drizzle here in Napier since not long after midday and looks like it has settled in for the rest of the day (and probably tomorrow too to make punting at the big race meeting in Hastings tomorrow somewhat difficult!). Thermometer sitting on the back porch is showing 13.5 degrees which is way lower than for the last week or so but at least it shouldn't get too much lower from now own. Very little breeze but earlier this morning it was a chilly southerly wafting through so if anything that might return later in time to make it even more difficult come kick off time tonight. Don't expect that big of a crowd given the awful weather and the absence of an opposition with much in the way of crowd drawpower nor rugby tradition.
@Stargazer Any indication as to who the referee is for tonight? The law of averages says that it can't be Mr. Pickerell again nor local official Mr. Bredin. I hope to see the latter in action as a touch judge to give me extra entertainment! The Magpies look stronger than they have been for the last three or four games, especially in the backs, so it's looking like a Home 17+, if only to spite @Chris-B, for me!

Thanks Chris, didn't realise that in TR there was cover for 10.

Referee: Nick Briant
ARs: Nick Hogan & Stu Catley
TMO: Sheldon Eden-Whaitiri -
@Chris Thanks. Damn it I was looking forward to watching MR. Bredin in action as a touch judge. Guess his absence must mean he has an appointment on another game.

No he's not listed anywhere for this weekend.
-
@Chris Must be saving him for an extended run during the playoffs then!

Latest weather reccy and it is now raining reasonably steadily and the southerly has made an ugly appearance. Thermometer on the back porch has plummeted down 10% since lunchtime to just on 12 degrees. Looks like there will be time to introduce yourself to everyother spectator present tonight if you get there about ten minutes before kick off. In other words it is real yuk and there will be no need for Armourguard to turn up to take the gate takings away in their armoured vehicles. Would not be surprised if @Stockcar86 and myself don't have a good portion of one of the blocks in a grandstand all to ourselves.
-
@Higgins That's not good news.
Our strength is in the backs, so a hard and fast track without much set piece was what was ordered!
-
Time for the TJ and Hames show... (with Smith)

@Bovidae Man, that's depressing!

I don't think even Smithy's bias can balance out those two.
-
@Nepia wondering where all the Magpies supporters have gone ..?..
-
@Duluth surprised he didn't milk that on the hb leg, he seems good at that part of the game...
-
@Steven-Harris Pod and Smithy balancing things up

Ah didn't realise Pod was there too, that should be enough to almost balance TJ.
-
Whānau who are at the game saying the wind is behind Tasman
-
@Steven-Harris seems accross a bit too
-
Adventurous in these conditions, but comes off under penalty advantage
-
@taniwharugby to be fair some of my whānau wouldn’t know their left from their right
