Ah Kuoi, Renton, Nankivell and Nareki on the bench for me. Although tempted to swap McLeod in for Alex...

1.Xavier numiaAs far as individual players go, I don't mind it but not sure if they complement each other. Narawa AND Naholo? Does that allow Sullivan to drop in and out of the frontline? Narawa does an OK job supporting Stevenson at the Chiefs but they seem to have that back three finely balanced and you'll note that it ENS is the fullback support more than Narawa.
Assume this means Aumua is in the main squad and Coles is left out in order to develop depth? Same goes with Finau as I'd have him over Flanders no problems. -

@SBW1 you'd assume one of Roigard or Christie will miss out on the main squad so they will start for the All Blacks XV.
I'd have Billy Proctor over Brayden Ennor and I would shift Devan to 8 and start Finau who's been great for the Chiefs.
-
I have a feeling Cole’s may not be in any squad as he is so injury prone!
Sampeni finau I was thinking a good bench option for me but definitely in the squad
Cam roigard in the all blacks square I’m hoping and Christie in the squad for Japan game but I prefer what ratima brings .
I did think about proctor but a good bench option for me and Levi aumua to be in the all blacks squad -
I don't buy into talk of a player being 'injury prone'.
What does that even mean?
If there are underlying/unfixed injuries or physical weak points then coaches and selectors would be well aware of those and the recovery plans.
A player is fully fit or not. They don't get not selected because of what injures might happen. -
@Crucial then how do you explain the same player getting injured over and over? What ever the reason for them, some players just seem to get injured more than others.
I think they should take into account a player's injury history when selecting a squad for something like the World Cup. Picking someone like Blackadder for example is going to be a risk. The odds of him getting through a World Cup unscathed would be low. I would not be surprised if injury ruled him out of contention anyway.
I am thinking players can be easily replaced in the squad if injured during the cup? Is there a limit on injury replacements?

Often you find out there has been an imbalance or weakness or that they were mis-managed and coming back before complete repair. Yes, popped shoulders and such get weaker each time.
I'm talking about guys that have an unlucky run of different injuries that get called "injury prone" when it's just shit luck.
Cane was being called such last year despite previous long injury free runs and a season since of fronting up hard each week.
The medics will inform the selectors of the level of risk as will an assessment of technique. Blackadder is an example where his style combined with technique seemingly puts him at higher risk. He's an outlier though. Most that get tagged with the term are just unlucky.
Not selecting someone because they had an unlucky run of injuries have been out behind them is dumb. -

Yes, and that's exactly why they can select players like Blackadder, ALB, Cane etc. You can be sure of it that there's a whole group of players who'll be told to keep their passports ready and have their bags packed, just in case they have to jump on the plane to replace an injured player.

Agree 100%.

It usually goes bit further than that too. They are often in early squads to get the system training and are left at home with playing/training plans to be ready. I seem to recall in the past that they will train with the main squad as late as possible.
Hasn't there also been times when players are flown closer to the squad if required to be on standby? -

Not sure whether they have done that for a RWC, but I remember them calling players into the ABs squad during a Northern Tour, who were invited to play for the Barbarians the previous week(s) or maybe the Māori ABs, who were also touring. I think several of them played against Scotland.
That won't happen during the RWC, but there's no reason why they can't have a mini-training camp somewhere in France. The only thing they can't do is letting them train with the main RWC squad.
-
There's been situations where players have been flown close during a RWC. Usually when there's an injury but they haven't decided if the injured player is definitely leaving the RWC squad.
They can't have contact with the squad. There's a regulation that no player can join a squad until something like 24hours after the injured player leaves. That's so teams close to the RWC venue don't have an advantage. The purpose of getting them nearby is to avoid jet lag
