Surprised this hasnt been brought up today...

New Zealand have moved to the top of the T20I rankings for the first time following the ICC's annual update. The new cycle disregarded results from the 2012-13 season and therefore West Indies, who won their first Twenty20 championship in 2012, lost points and have dropped one place to No. 3.

New Zealand have 132 points, having played their first World T20 semi-final since 2007. India also have 132 points, but New Zealand were ahead by a factor of 0.21 when decimal points were taken into consideration.

South Africa have been ranked No. 4 and World T20 2016 finalist England rounded off the top five.

In ODIs, Australia and New Zealand, who played the final of the 2015 World Cup, occupy the top two spots. South Africa have moved up a spot to No. 3, exchanging places with India.

Yep Sodhi did very well when he played, Ronchi must be gone now though.
-

Great to see.

However, to be consistent, I've never rated international T20 and have never ever looked at the ratings. I also think the current "world champions" are a joke of a team.

But if we're #1....celebration time!!!
-
The current world champions are made up of a team of T20 specialists. They were deserved winners without a doubt.
-
Not in T20s they aren't. In tests absolutely, and should probably lose their status as a test nation. But they are fricken hard to beat in T20s. They won the thing without their premier batsmen firing a shot in the finals.
-
Lol, I think it shows that winning a T20 tournament requires T20 specialists. Which is what basically the entire WI team is.
