Sky TV

Was still pretty choppy on my 55inch TV, but got Sky plugged into that anyway. Stoked I can easily stream it to the two other TVs in the house now 🙂

Sky desperately hoping the NZR plans come to fruition. The re-runs request is a good delay tactic to tell customers to hang in there.
They will take a bit hit though. Anyone able to cancel the sport part of their contract is likely to consider it strongly and those (like myself) that pay with no contract through sky sport now won’t renew until live sport is back.
I’m surprised that they haven’t offered a switch to movies or soho for contract customers to be honest. -
@Crucial Expect an announcement about the sport offering in a few days I'm told. I get SoHo free as part of the sports and entertainment package.
Spark Sport has got in first by "opening up its platform at no charge for existing and new customers until May, giving access to 6 sports channels and hundreds of hours of on demand sport content". The question will be if the individual is interested in the sports they have. Spark have deeper pockets though.

They have been telling everyone that for days now. As I said, they are holding out hoping that NZR comes to the rescue.
That's fair enough except that when you sell product on a time sub basis you would think that when you can't provide what people have paid for, an interim gesture is quickly put in place.
The 'tell us what you want replayed' thing is a time eating diversion.
I just don't think they have front-footed this well considering that live sport is by far the biggest driver of their income.Replays are good for the commercial arm of pubs and clubs to have something on screen but I would be certain that plenty of families are having the discussion of 'why are we paying Sky for something they aren't providing?'
Very unusual circumstances, yes, but IMO better calls could have been made. Maybe they have looked at the renewal dates and feel they can hold people at bay for a few days? To me it looks like company first, customers second.

@Crucial I agree but by the same token won't NZR, NZRL, Netball NZ, etc also be shitting themselves as they might not be able to provide Sky with the sports content they (Sky) have paid for. This will likely have flow-on effects right down to the athletes taking pay cuts.

I would also be concerned that it takes longer to rebuild an audience lost as subscribers drop off and have to opt in again. If I was NZR I would be imploring Sky to pull out the stops to maximise retention.

@Machpants said in Sky TV:
Meh, I don't think I've ever watched a super rugby replay. Give me ALL BLACKS!
Unless you are a supporter of the teams playing I wouldn't be watching.
Yeah, odd to have just two teams when you could have them all playing.
