Hurricanes vs Highlanders
-
Another important game for both sides in the capital on Friday. Highlanders are now in must win territory to make the top 6, while the Canes will be very keen to carry on the momentum they showed against the Chiefs in Wellington last week and will be gunning for maximum points.
For the Canes, we might finally see the back of Hohepa after Brett Cameron got through 60 mins in his second club game since coming back from a long term injury.
Update from ClubRugby.nz - - -
Manawatū first five-eighth Brett Cameron feels ready to make his Hurricanes return after an eight-month injury layoff.
Cameron made a rare appearance in club rugby on Saturday, getting through 60 minutes for Te Kawau in their 50-19 loss to Varsity at Massey University.
It was his second game back after having knee surgery last year to repair an anterior cruciate ligament injury he suffered at Manawatū Turbos training.

I'm not expecting too many changes to the Canes 23 that beat the Chiefs, however we will likely see the inclusion of Cameron for Hohepa, and I'm expecting to see Devan Flanders involved off the bench for either Shields or Iose, pending who starts this game.
I'm expecting something like the below:
- Mafileo
- Aumua
- Lomax
- Delany
- Walker-Leawere
- Shields
- Kirifi
- Lakai
- Roigard
- Love
- Punivai
- Higgins
- Proctor
- Sullivan
- Harkin
- Tuputupu
- Numia
- Tosi
- Gallagher
- Flanders
- Vijoen (I hope)
- Cameron
- Umaga-Jensen

Head coach Clark Laidlaw will be forced to make at least one change to his starting XV for the Highlanders with the Hurricanes expected to announce that winger Kini Naholo’s season is over after rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee inside the opening 10 minutes.

Shame about Kini but not exactly surprising.

Hopefully the spicy cough has hit the Canes like it was 2020, and we end up playing the Hunters
-
@Canes4life as a landers fan I have given up on top 6 lol, we are in a race to avoid the spoon, Assuming the Drua beat the Force in Lautoka, to avoid the spoon the next 3 weeks Landers need to win a game or get some within 7 losing bonus points. Basically if we are down by 8 with five to go and get a penalty within range take it..

Injury update from the Landers
Renton and Tangitau still out.
Nareki and Tele'a back available.

Wonder if this will stuff up his contract in Japan?

@SouthernMann looks like the Mako fella might be at 10 and I'm not talking about Robinson, I'm talking about a guy with 1 NPC game 🤷♂️
Which one is that? Are we playing first five lottery?
-
Is it Cooper Grant?
-
Bingo as you will see in these photos he isn't wearing the yellow Bib alongside the other obvious starters Nareki, Tavatavanawai & Ma'u

Is that him with the beard in-between Vikena and Stodart?
-
Is it fair to say this is close to the Landers 23 going from those photos?
- De Groot
- Taylor
- Mau'u
- Holland
- Dunshea
- Howden
- Lasaga
- Withy
- Hastie
- Grant
- Nareki
- Tavatavanawai
- Telea'a
- Lowe
- Rautamatuvuki-Kneepkens
- Vikena
- Bartlett
- Wingham
- Haig
- Stodart
- Fakatava
- Millar
- Umaga-Jensen
-
From the Canes socials looks like Aumua isn't training (maybe because of Covid). Bason is back with the Canes.
-
@SouthernMann yeah and if my assumption that he is starting is correct I wish him the very best, tough challenge for a guy who's only npc game I can recall is when Ta$man B visited Dunedin during a storm week

Really screams trust in the two uninjured contracted 10s.

Hard to judge. Seems to be a few combinations in the photos. Especially in the backs. Seen both Lennox and Hastie at halfback.
Same at hooker with both Vikena and Taylor in the top strip.
Could be a bit of a lottery. Really will say a lot about the opinion of our current 10s if a guy with one NPC start gets the gig
