and stayed very close to the book .
have you read the book? the final showdown - the climax of the whole 'why Potter will win ethos', was poorly done. Casual viewers would have plenty of questions unanswered. It was visual feast to be sure, but could have been handled so much better by a real director and better scriptwriter both of whom came into HP with pretty shallow C.V's. - especially considering it's a billion dollar franchise and NZers know how seriously Warner Brothers value their productions. -
I saw it last night in 3D (Which was pointless) They never captured any of the deaths very well. I was slightly disappointed. Wish they made more of a deal out of Neville and his parents and Grandmother. Same with the Mum Weasley and Bellaletrix Estrange. For me, the best acting in the whole series was Helena Bonham Carter and Alan Rickman!

Have read reviews that say HP 8 isnt that worth while in 3D, although have also read some that say the complete opposite.
Hooroo there was a poll recently where a vote was taken of the altime fav HP character, no surprise Snape won hands down. -

Yes i have read the book . Twice actually . The only major differences were in the final battle with a few bits left out and a few more added . I thought the movie focused more on the battle between Voldemort and Harry instead of everyone elses individual fights and made a good job of it . -
I watched Tree of Life last week. Still pretty bewildered,. It was two films mashed into one, something like Mad Men meets Jupiter & Beyond the Infinite. Was it any good? Yeah. Can I recommend it? Umm, it was kinda long, and I'm pretty sure most people will be scratching their heads and getting sore bums. I think I get what Terrence Malick is communicating, but it's confusing.

Cars 2 - was not as good as the first one, TR Jnr loved it though, which I guess is all that matters!

The Way Back - based on a true story of a bunch of wartime prisoners who escape from a prison in siberia, and head south, with the remainder of them walking through the Himalayas to India..was a good film, 7/10 -
X-Men - First Class; pretty much what I expected of it, plenty of new mutants as well, a cameo of Wolverine, 7/10

Took the kids to Kung Fu Panda 2, not as funny as the first, although some good laughs, even if a few of them were over the heads of kids, TR Jnr x 2 loved it, so that is all that matters! -
Green Lantern. Pretty good, saw it in 3D and similar to the last one I saw in 3D - Thor, it added to the depth of what you were watching - and wasn't corny. The big studios are really getting the hang of 3D with the latest movies, which is good to see.

Enjoyed the movie, thought it was as good, if not slightly better than Thor. Sets up nicely for a 2nd one as well.

Didn't realize until the credits started rolling - but Temura Morrison was in it. He was the Green Lantern that died to give his ring to Hal (the first earth green lantern). Will have to watch it again some time - to pick him out again, as I had no idea. -
watched 'Your Highness' which stars Natalie Portman, James Franco, plus a host of other recognisable faces....

In acceptance of a punch in the throat from Sneak, even plenty of cleavage shots of Natalie Portman couldnt save this film!

It is described as an adventure, comedy, fantasy, what you get, is some rather vulgar and stupid jokes that simply ruin the film, which actually could have been good...but it was directed by the guy that did Pineapple Express, so I shoulda known better! -
Tracker - that NZ flick with Temuera Morrison and Ray Winstone. Pretty crap really. No Utu that's for sure .... 5/10

Win Win - Paul Giamatti is a lawyer/wrestling coach who winds up as a guardian for an old man and takes in the guys wayward grandchild. Decent movie if a little too "worthy" in parts. 6.5/10

The Lincoln Lawyer - I thought McConoughey was cracking in this. Good cast all round but a pretty shitty story. It is probably decent enough to set up a franchise though. 6.5/10

Black Swan - Finally got round to watching it. What a trip. While it wasn't 100% brilliant it definitely got you thinking. 8.5/10 (.5 bonus for having Portman and Kunis) -
Age of Heroes - Sean Bean, based on a true story set in WWII, includes the real life character Ian Fleming and claims supposed to be the prelude to the first British Special Forces where a Commando Unit is trained spcifically for a mission in Norway...sadly, it was a bit average, didnt really get going and ended abruptly
-
Cowboys and Aliens - Absolutely off the chart . Exactly the right mix of Action, cool lines, annoying people getting blown up and even a touching moment or two. Bond and Solo/Jones are excellent ( well not Oscar excellent but action movie excellent ) and for a movie with a completely ridiculous title it just works brilliantly.

9/10. -
sweet, will get out and watch it! I tried to convince Mrs TR of the merits of this film, I just got 'you are such a boy' whats up with that?

I want to see this. Do they say "Get on your Spaceship and get outa town!" ?

I watched an oldie the other day that I hadn't seen in years and still really enjoyed it. Quadrophenia. Leslie Ash (the lusted neighbour from Men Behaving Badly) was pretty hot. Sting is perfectly cast as a cool moron, mind you I still hate seeing his scooter smash on the rocks at the end. -
This will sound odd, but go see Bridesmaids. Take the missus. We haven't laughed that hard in ages. It is quite wrong at points though - not for the easily offended...
Wife said this was very good too, said I'd like it, kinda in the Hangover mold, but better in some ways she said? -
The Last Starfighter is on Prime right now! Love the theme music.....such a rip off of Star Wars..... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />
