I'm not sure, I wasn't actually doing Paleo - more like Nepiao where I just made it up as I went along ... with the key being ditching sugar.
-

So our team didn't win the challenge (boo, $1000 prize too) but I do get a small gift. Think I'm getting it today.

Took all week to basically get the splurge weekend weight back off. So back to the end of the challenge weight. So I'm hoping to get under 78 this week, once I get there it will be two landmarks;

- 10kgs lost since starting Crossfit (April 2011)

- Last time I was under 78 I was in my 20s (just)

So will be working hard for my 78kg stretch goal this week.

Again off to do my Open workout, will swap over to my proper thread for that now. Thanks for the support for the challenge guys, been a fun five weeks.
-

Great stuff mate. That is some impressive weight-loss whilst retaining/improving strength!

Fark, 78kgs! I was 65kg in 3rd form and early 90's by 7th form... I think I skipped the 70's!
-

After this weekend I've decided I need better friends - not bloody carb/sugar enablers!

Friday night I've already mentioned, Saturday went out for brunch so could just have bacon and eggs, and was at a mall for lunch so had the Japanese salad/meat thingy that's in all the mauls now.

Then Saturday night, home cooked meal, except the meal consisted of mashed potatoes, garlic bread, breadcrumbed freshly caught snapper, and ice creams for desert! I'm not sure why when I said I'm not eating many carbs everyone took that to mean lets eat bread and potatoes!

Sunday didn't get much better, unanimous decision, bar one, to go to an American style diner, so I had a burger without chips - which was bloody nice TBH. Sunday night was Thai for dinner so I had some curry and a vegetable dish.

I've now concluded that I might just have to make the weekends fair game for the next few weeks while I'm away and then just stick to my normal eating during the weeks. What I'm most happy about is that I've had a few chocolates but not had the urge to have lots or buy anymore! Yay.

Ps: I think I skipped the 70kgs as well, I was about 55kg in 3rd form and about 90kg in 7th form ... unfortunately I remained the same height.
-

Man I wish I payed rugby for your team! That sounds awesome but you have to beware the stitch...
-

So I lost 900grams on my modified eating habit this week - down to 94kg. Aside from the weekend of carbs on Wednesday night I had Spaghetti Bolognese and garlic bread for dinner and then had some cake for morning tea - that's now 3 different groups of friends trying to fatten me up!

As I'm still losing weight it really was the sugar that was fat boy-ing me I guess.
-

Another week, and I'm down to 93kg, so probably another 500g loss. Feel pretty good about that as I ate bucket loads of chocolate brownie one day this week. One more week of my eating whatever and then I'll be back home and a bit more disciplined.

-
I eat clean from Sunday to Friday then go nuts on the Saturday. Seems to work for me. Very hard if not impossible to completely give up bad foods. Add training and there's no reason not to have a Saturday pigout with a clear conscious.
-

Nothing wrong with that approach mate as long as the sunday pig out isnt toooooo crazy!

I do something similar in that I eat pretty big on the week days which are my training days but its quality food other than friday lunch. Weekends are much more relaxed and I tend to eat less but also lessor quality food. Total cals though are still much lower than my heavier training days.
-
Ive calmed down a bit, but at one stage i was eating, among other things, 2 large packets of nacho chips, several jam donuts, macdonalds, tacos, packet of minties, timtams and ice cream. Was crapping up a storm the next day. Now im more into the schnitzel, pasta type foods. Used to only have the one cheat meal but since I train 6 times a week the pt advised to go it the whole day. Might have taken that too far though (:

What would be a typical meal day for you? You're an endomorph right? -

Nah not really much of an endomorph. I'm more ecto if anything, but the skinny fat kind. Hold weight on my belly and hips pretty hard and struggle to build mass where it matters (chest, arms etc). It's the shittiest of lot - noted some stuff about it in http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/index.php/topic/32242-jk-vs-2014-time-to-grow/page-43

But a typical day of eats for me on a week day at the moment is approx 340g carbs, 210grams protein and about 75-80grams fat - around 2900 cals. Carb levels vary most days as a I cycle carbs dependent on heavier training days etc. Protein and fats stay pretty steady.

When I'm looking to lose weight I just cut the carbs back to 50-100grams, protein goes up a bit and fats too usually need to increase a bit to ensure still have a decent amount of calories taken in.
-
Seems like you have total control! Don't count calories myself but should start. Carbs have become a bad word but they are pretty damn important for growth.
-

92.5kg this week ... I was probably 93.3kg last week - I left of the .3 in my last post. Have been eating bread for two weeks now and the weight is still coming off which is good - although I've been eating the Burgen Soy and Linseed which has about half the carbs per two slices as any 90% of the other breads. Had a donut the other day and have had some noodles when out for Asian food. Had Mexican the other night too. I think I just keep a better eye on what and how much I'm eating these days and I've killed the sugar bug mostly.

What is crazy is that in the past when I've lost weight, or tried to lose weight it's always been in conjunction with doing hard out exercise. IMHO, what I've been doing has worked much better, modify eating and walk 60 - 100 minutes a day at my normal speed. Usually I'll do a 60 minute morning walk and a 30-40 minute evening, but somedays I'll just do the one or two 40 minutes. I listen to podcasts so don't feel I'm wasting my time.

I know some, ahem, heavy people who have personal trainers but don't seem to lose weight, I just think they push them too hard so they just wind up eating bucket loads.

In saying that I'm able to start doing some weights from Monday so I'll be getting into that as my arms have shrunk a bit - why is it always the belly and hips that go last?
-

So I have been doing this for roughly 10 weeks now and I'm down to 91kg! Crazy, I never thought the weight would come off so easily.

I have to say thanks to Kirwan for starting this thread that I hijacked as I know that participating in it helped me stick to it. And cheers to everyone who offered food suggestions and gave me encouragement! A round of applause to the Fern.
-

Nice work mate, let's use the high figure. So 14kg progress? That's excellent, I'm still hovering around 8kg so far.

I'm well into the buying new clothes stage, 32inch jeans are loose, it's a good feeling.
