I find it interesting that people enjoy him trolling climate change science like that.
If he weren’t the president, I’d probably find it somewhat funny. However, he’s literally the most powerful person in the world, and doesn’t seem to have any appreciation of what that entails.
Either that or he actually thinks climate change isn’t happening, which is far scarier.
I tend to lean towards para#3

The impression I get from him is that he believes it is happening but he isn't sold on the hysterics and backing plans which have very little, if any, return on investment but a guaranteed downside for your average citizen. He certainly enjoys riling people up by even daring to joke about the most sacred of narratives.

Good thing we have people in charge who would never make exaggerated claims about an isolated weather event or spend enormous amounts of money trying to "fix" the weather.
In terms of hyperbole and generally saying irresponsible bullshit, Trump is really no different than anyone else.

Ahh yeah, all presidents bullshit for their own benefit, selling the story as required to the audience. My point was being President means you are and should be held to a different level to practically any other commentator when questioning what the vast majority of qualified people is settled science.

I think that rule has only been enforced by the media during Republican presidencies.

Was he questioning the settled science or mocking the hell out of the previous apocalyptic statements regarding isolated weather events that turned out to be utter bullshit? I recall a certain president making some pretty dodgy claims about the Great Barrier Reef. Hence my original point.

Depends on who you think his target audience is. Is he into hyperbole? Yes. Has he derided climate change? Certainly. In 2016 he called it a hoax.

The point is that it's nothing new that presidents, PMs, chancellors, popes, dictators etc. have engaged in hyperbole and said some pretty irresponsible things regarding CC. Shitloads have certainly done exactly as Trump has and pointed to an isolated weather event as an argument to support their view. IMHO scaring the shit out of people and throwing stupid amounts of money at a pretend fix to the problem is just as bad as doing nothing.

It's one thing entirely to point out setting new record lows and highs is what one expects from climate change and another to erroneously call a record low proof global warming doesn't exist. It's either ignorant or disingenuous. With Trump I can't tell which.

Doesn't that apply to all or most politicians? It's about political expediency, not actually caring about or trying to fix a problem.

Probably, but the higher the office the greater the responsibility.
