Fraser Anning can fuck off, but this sort of shit can fuck off in the same measure.
Being overseas it is genuinely bizzare to see NZ so front and centre. There is a massive disconnect between the raw footage coming form NZ (and the NZ culture that we all know) and the talking heads eager to file it under Exhibit 732 of whatever identity politics crusade they are on (this is true for both sides).
The stories coming form the attack and afterwards is the real NZ, and hell even the PM brought her A game when it was most needed. This was true of the earthquakes and all disasters of this nature. This is an absolute tragedy and I'll be damned if the social fabric of NZ is going to be dragged through the mud or people to suggest this is symptomatic of broader NZ (or even Australia).
This guy was deranged and always destined to hate. It was this particular ideology of hate he happened to latch onto. For the moment it's as simple as someone who may as well have been a NZer massacred 49 fellow NZers. That is where it starts and ends for the moment, leave the ideology bullshit for another time.
....and that's pretty much why I compared it to Aramoana and got a post disagreeing with me when the crux of the matter is in both cases it was a psycho with a gun.
Some sources indicate this lone bloke may have indeed killed all 49 singlehandedly?!?!
fucken he'll.

I gotta admit when I Left work last night, I watched that guy across the road a little closer, looked over my shoulder more than once...it reminded me of when I attended a large event soon after the terrorists used cars to run down pedestrians, I was walking down the road with hundreds of people thinking, shit, this would be a bad situation if something like that happened...the world changed in 2001, NZ, largely isolated in so many ways sat at the bottom of the world looking outside, silently feeling lucky to be so isolated, yesterday changed all that.
we have an annual neighbour thing today, and one of our neighbours suggested we can it because of these events, people need to keep doing what they are doing.
You can still greive for the people involved, for your friends, family and those in the affected communities, but you dont sit in your home and hide, this is where the terrorists win.

Wouldn't it be great if after the court appearance today it was announced that the fuckwit has been sentenced to life, no parole chance and he's already in his solitary confinement cell?
Just get him locked up forever, today. No drawn out media infestation
I hope that about now it's starting to dawn on him quite how fucking miserable the rest of his life is going to be.

Ideally he spends the rest of his miserable life in a brightly lit cell where the light is on 24/7. They can pump through islamic sounds and music too.
Endless reruns of Shortland St should be shown as well.I dont want to ever read stories of him arguing for his rights and taking up tax payers money as he drags up some bullshit claim in court.

Wouldn't that be nice. Instead i think you're going to hear exactly about those types of stories. My old man is a recently retired screw, and he could tell you some crazy stories about the rights of prisoners nowadays. Sadly, this guys will have a pretty easy life.

Look at that piece of shit Philip Smith, the wankshit that escaped to Brazil a couple years ago. Hes still dragging corrections through the court trying to sue over his hurt rights.

You'll be able to substitute Br+%$#n T%&#%t to that sentence in a few years, while everyone who uses firearms will be jumping through more hoops and no doubt there will be more security fucking up normal people's lives when they visit churches or mosques or sporting events of whatever.
I really want them to carefully see whether the procedures were followed correctly for this guy before jumping up and down about changing our laws (although I don't have a problem with restricting semi-autos as they are a grey area and needed changing anyway). Two people wrote references for that guy; he was supposedly interviewed by the cops: and I wonder if he was even googled...
-
@MN5 yeah I was thinking that last night, re the sentencing thing...I doubt too many would have issues with a special re-introduction of the death penalty in this instance
With regard to the guns, there was that shooting up this way a couple of years back, a guy who was not allowed a gun licence, but his mate supplied him with guns, he ordered the bits he needed to make it semi-auto online.
Sadly, I dont see them stopping people getting guns, legally or not, but any changes that makes it harder is cool by me.
ALways think our Govt shoulda given the Brazilian Govt the $100k for a years in NZ prison and told them keep him till that runs out....then he'd know he is at a a resort compared to thier prisons.

This explains why when scrolling through the news channels on Sky i couldnt find Sky News Australia...
Broadcaster Sky TV has pulled Sky News Australia from screening here after it aired footage of the fatal Christchurch shootings.
Sky's Kristy Martin said that after "yesterday's tragic events, we made the decision to remove Sky News Australia from our platform while disturbing footage of the shootings was being shown to avoid causing any distress to our viewers".
"It will remain off air until we are confident the footage won't be shared."What the actual fuck?, why would they be showing the footage for.

@taniwharugby Made me wonder about NZ law, if there were any special provisions for a terrorist act.

I would have thought that a background passport check showing visits to Pakistan, Afghanistan and especially North Korea should have raised a few eyebrows.
There is no grey area about semi-autos, they have no place outside armed forces/the police. The guy takes a bulk standard rifle into the mosque, he maybe kills 3 or 4 people. A semi-auto and it's 49.
I want them checking procedures too, but they can immediately ban semi-autos.
-
Sorry, either you've misread my post or I haven't written it clearly enough - I wrote I have no problem with restricting semi-autos as the law is a grey area that needs fixing.

Yesterday I went to twitter almost immediately after I had heard what had happened. Mainly because there was very little info and I was hoping hear what was happening from people within chch. There was already one tweet from a 20 something leftist idiot. They identified as non binary so I can’t elaborate there...but they immediately blamed Trump and oddly they decided it was a good time to post a picture of the 2 visiting Canadian spaz’s that mocked Maori culture at the airport terminal. Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneux.
The quick draw to politicise this tragedy has been sickening to me. So many people across the world have been saddened by what has happened but so many more have used it as a # to get their own agenda across. No, I’m not surprised. But the lack of shock doesn’t mute my disappointment.
I loathe Trump. But he did not pull the trigger. I’m not a fan of the Canadian speakers either but they didn’t go out, obtain a gun license, quickly accumulate arms and then calmly work around a room or rooms where people quietly kneeled in introspective prayer. Shooting them like they were in a video game. I wish to fuck I hadn’t seen that video.
I called out the chick on Twitter, sorry, non binary person, and said “today is not a day for politics. There will plenty of time for that”
2 hours later I got this back, and I quote “Fuck off you racist fluffybunny. Fuck you and all your people”
Just wow. The tweet was deleted shortly after that.
