I guess I’m as biased as everyone on here though (to the other side) as I won’t vote national tho unless they drag themselves out of the dark ages with their approach to drug legislation, crime and the environment.
So what have this govt done in these regards that is so good? Or even better than national govts?
We are getting a referendum on cannibus legislation aren’t we? Which National seem to be vigorously opposing.
I’ve heard this several times recently. Apparently referenda are a good way to spend $26m when Labour and the Greens have them but a waste of money when National does. Is that how it works?
Just for the record, I consider cannabis legislation to be equally as important as what colour flag I don’t fly on the flagpole I don’t have. That is, not important at all, but if you want to measure the quality of a government on such things, more power to you.
I’m sure there are people in National who aren’t opposed to legalising dope that are campaigning against the referendum in the same way changing the flag was labour policy in the 2014 election yet they tied themselves in knots campaigning against it . I don’t really care either way whether dope is legal but I’m more than happy for National to get a bit of utu if they want after the behaviour of labour and their shills over the flag.

... their shills over the flag.
What cheesed me the most is that while I'm not opposed to a flag change to a decent flag, the thing I'd prioritise is our national anthem. Hard to feel patriotic when it feels like a funeral dirge.
IT's so bad, these guys could have it as their anthem:

The best example you can give is a referendum on something and not actual meaningful and positive change.
That's a pretty piss poor show from Princess Rainbow Sparkles thus far don't you think? On the positive side she has created loads of jobs. Those working groups aren’t going to run themselves you know. And all those consultants on $1400 a day will probably end up paying CGT, so wins all round.

$250m is a lot of cash. I’m glad it isn’t being wasted.
Seriously though, why don’t the media ask the obvious question, which is “Why do you need a bigger tax take, Cindy? What are you going to spend it on, more consultants?”

The spin from labour about the costing is very Blairite .

Arderns experience was i night a week as a teenager at a fish and chip job . She did work for Blair though which is how she can come out with this
“To ensure we knew what she was banging on about she reminded us that she grew up in Morrinsville, in a small town rural community. All of her jobs were mostly with small businesses and she knows the debate going on in rural New Zealand and their views will be heard, she insisted.”

A bit like Christian Cullen saying back in the day that he had work experience outside rugby because he used to have a paper run

After all that they said no to CGT. Nice
So they pissed away $2million on a review that have ignored when they realised that 2/3rds of the country opposed the idea and it would likely cost them an election.
So terrible with money, ignore experts they hand pick and have no principles? They either support the idea or they don't.

The only positive is that it will put this to bed for another decade or so.
