Movie review thread...

@jegga yep, it's like how so many Fantasy writers were inspired to write Fantasy by Tolkein, but didnt mean they tried to write about Sally Baggins in Leftie-Earth.
They created thier own characters and worlds with many similarities, but still different.
Rather than market as a re-boot, just let it be it's own movie and let people just go 'oh thats pretty much just Bond with a chick'

Anyway, Spiderman is still a dude in Far from Home. Bit meh but ok entertainment and the boys were happy. Just on that blip thing, wasn't it a bit rude of Stark to allow that to happen? Couldn't he have prevented the entire thing? That whole time travel thing is a dog's breakfast.
Saw a couple movies on the weekend actually:
Under Siege. Imho easily the best of those one man kills multiple baddies films. Siegel never came near this level again. Perfection and Erika Eleniak just makes it even better.
Bevis and Butthead do America. Absolutely hilarious. Great little film. "He he he, he said extend".

A couple of years ago now I think. I saw the trailer back then and threw up. What a fucken catastrophe.

It’s been ages since I whinged about Star Wars introducing two of the all time shittest characters who happened to be women. Might as well do so on here. At least one of them died and signs are positive the other might do a Jar Jar ( ie barely appear in the next flick )

Yes that range of TLJ action figures was awesome. Those Holdo, Rose and Locksmith Tool toys just disappeared off the shelves. We're so unlucky to have missed that bonanza of awesomeness when we were kids. Boba Fett has nothing on Rose.
Damn you. I was just starting to forget.

Ha, shopping with the boys and the amount of Rose action figures on the shelf was hilariously pathetic. I shoulda taken a photo and made a meme.
My boys play one of those lego racing star wars type games on TV and oldest son picks Rose as his character just to piss me off.
Little fluffybunny.

Die Hard 2
Still my favourite of the John McClane movies. Perhaps starting to stretch the line a bit in terms of reality, but a well paced, well plotted movie.
4.5 yipppe kai yays out of 5 motherf***ers ..
(loses 0.5 for the windsor plane crash scene which is just shit)

This guy makes great videos and has the following take on the new Bond:
What I find so weird is that you would get the woman who voiced that ridiculous droid in Solo to write the script for a Bond film. That's like asking the South Park guys to script a chic flick.
-
@Rancid-Schnitzel the thing I find weird is that I thought the name goes with the agent number. So I don't get how this woman is 007 but not Bond?

She has some credibility as a writer, that’s like judging Waititi on Korg.

No it isn't. What "credibility as a writer" makes her qualified to script a Bond movie. But if you don't like that example, how about George R R Martin being commissioned to write a rom com.

The choice of director has me interested as he was the director of S1 of True Detective.
@Rancid-Schnitzel There appears to be 5 writers including Neal Purvis and Robert Wade.

Well I suppose if you're going to turn 007 into a woman then she's your man.

Yep, she’s clearly been tasked with punching up the humour and making sure the woman are well written.
Sensible to avoid easy targets for the woke brigade.
Not a fan of prejudging a movie based knee jerk reactions to casting and who’s writing part of a script.
In theory, after the last movie, having Bond retired is a good idea. It’s clever to have 007 as a black woman to swot away that casting pressure, as long as Bond ends up back in that designation at the end of the movie.
Let’s them pick who they want for the next one.
If it’s a soft attempt at completely rewriting the character then Bond movies will probably not be very successful from here on.
If the character is successful they could even have spin off movies. Can see why they are doing it.

Idris Elba
Too much of a TV actor. I find him dull on the big screen. Chiwetel Ejiofor might be a better choice.
If they really want to get radical with representation, then they could embrace the unthinkable and cast an unreconstructed London Aussie in the role.
