RWC: All Blacks v Italy (Cancelled) (Pool B)
-
Will be a tough fixture to single out three players for MoTM but no doubt our Cantab friends will manage to get some variant of Crotty, Reece, Whitelock or Read, Bridge, Barrett S.
"Looked good in training", "handled the cancellation better than others in the side", "better answers at the press conference"

TBF, as the team was not named I assume we'll have to rely on @ACT-Crusader's selection for this match so we'll all be picking Cantabs.

So, who is underdone come Ireland, be interested to see minutes played this World Cup. Such bollocks, I was looking forward to a nice afternoon of rugby.
BBBR was going to play 60 mins so their planning goes out the window. Lookout whoever we play in the QF!

Jeez I hope the Wellington RFU officials are not reading this as they will almost certainly find reason to cancel games scheduled for Delaney Park or at Fraser Park (until the last few years anyway) on "the best interests of public, team, tournament personnel and volunteer safety". Come to think of it games at Fraser Park should still be cancelled on safety grounds now that they are forcing teams tp play on that damn artificial surface.

Would Italy have beaten NZ? Highly unlikely. Would France have beaten England? Also unlikely.
But man if youโre an Italian fan you must be unhappy as they were still potentially in with a chance of reaching the quarters.
As for England, Argentina game turned into a stroll and French game is not happening, so they will be well and truly rested come the knockouts. It also puts us on a collision course with England should both teams win quarter final.
Just lame

@Billy-Tell Especially for Parisse, as he was going to play his last game vs the ABs. He also made his debut against the ABs in 2002 so that would have been a great story.

Was always mapping out as an NZ vs England semi though wasn't it? As soon as pools were announced it looked more likely than not that we would meet them.
And yep they could be rested but could equally be underdone. Same for us.

Would the same decision have been taken if it meant NZ, SA or England went home early??

Doubt it.

Jesus these cancellations have left me irrationally bitter.
Currently going through the stages of grief: denial, anger, bargaining, depression then acceptance.
Stuck between 3,4 and 5 at the moment ๐ค
One ferner, posted about the awesome Saturday we all had lined up and it had me buoyant all week!
Bugger

I honestly don't know why they've felt the necessity to cancel the games two days before they're due to be played. Why wouldn't you just say we're very worried and there's a strong prospect that we may need to cancel and we'll make a decision at 10am on game day?
I can't recall a cricket match ever being cancelled before it was due to start.
