Further, we have a government and a bureaucracy that is still shipping in illegal Centrelinkers from North Africa, the Middle East and other primitive places, people who routinely have a bog in the street and who don’t bother bathing. When they spit everywhere and shove their dirty mitts into the bowl from which the reffo next to them takes his next mouthful – and contract a gutful of Corona Virus 123 by the hundreds – these public servants will ship ’em in by the truckload to the same hospital wards as Australians, because diversity is our strength. With public officials that stupid what sane man would entrust his health to their sincere announcements and their perverted system?
Jesus, that's a pretty rough paragraph.
I consider Mick thoroughly triggered
serious question, Mick are you alright? Your stream-of-consciousness rants used to be mildly amusing. Lately they have turned very dark, and are often barely readable.

One of my co-workers lost $150k in stocks because of the mass media-driven hysteria coronavirus.
Also I was in Australia Fair last week at an Asian grocery. In a hairdresser at that mall one of the workers there, recently returned from Iran, has tested positive. She saw 40 people in the time it took her to realise she was ill. There is a chance I have come in contact with someone that has it.

Inevitably we will all come in contact with someone who has it. We need to take basic precautions, washing hands can't be overstated

It's amazing how many people think pandemic has the same Greek root as panic...

Fortunes are being made or boosted by anyone in the grocery business, and in the soap, tissues, and medical barrier type industries

There's an impressive army of vehement Facebook posters who would have completely locked down the NZ border to everyone four weeks ago.
I'm not sure how they found to time to study medicine alongside their qualifications in volcanology and mine re-entry, but they've found a way....

You should see how many Australians have suddenly switched from being expert fire fighters to renowned epidemiologists. No wonder it's the clever country...

I think some countries in Africa will probably be on top of a epidemic faster than most due to the experience they have with shutting down Ebola outbreaks
A lot of the Arab countries never got on top of MERS though so I’d say they are in the shit.
The Gulf countries will be fine (Yemen aside), but the countries further north and west are likely to struggle once it hits their territories

"Hair Plus (first floor opposite the Pacific Hotel entrance) have decided to self-quarantine as a precautionary measure until further notice." says centre management, closed for two weeks said the Channel 7 News.
Southport "Chinatown" has been largely unattended for weeks now - one of us is from SE Asia and we sort of notice that stuff, like.
Two weeks ago I sat with a smart young surgeon for a regular check on me and he foreshadowed a venue for the future monthly reviews other than the most modern hospital in Queensland. The management and the medical experts running this top drawer facility were planning ahead for sudden, heavy demand on their services; and they were also seriously concerned about the risk for patients and staff moving about in the interim.
He was not strutting about enjoying being glib and clever and more knowledgeable than everyone else, and he was keen to question what I was hearing back from family in SE Asia in my phone contacts every morning, every day of the year; and how I saw impacts of this thing evolving over there in the transport field and in the bureaucracies. I'll not bother recounting them here.
On March 1 there were 51 new cases reported in Germany, Spain 26, France 30, 573 in Italy (and 239 the day before) Iran 385, South Korea 586. On March 1, in just one day.
Some broad brush statistics:
Totals to date are 89,240 cases, 3,058 deaths (3.4%), 45,206 recovered.
These figures one month ago were 17,931; 362 (2.0%); and 504.
Two weeks ago - 73,332; 1,873 (2.6%); 12,712.
