Covid-19 and keeping fit

@taniwharugby yeah, if you contemplate doing any serious km on it, a Concept2 is the shot. They're great to row on.
Interestingly, they really seem to hold resale value as well. We bought ours new 17 years ago, and have done the thick end of 10 million metres on it.
Also, it's brutal. I tell the family I'm off to grovel.

So what is actually on Pornhub premium that makes it worth paying (normally)?

So I'm feeling happy with myself right now.
My few months in Bali consisted of runs in the 5-8km range, all around the 5m/km pace, given the heat and humidity there.
Coming back into lockdown, I set myself a goal of running 10kms in under 45mins, 4:30/km ave.
Did a longer 15km run last week, then an 8km on my own, and a bunch of shorter stuff with the kids.
First 10km hitout 2 days ago, managed 4:45/km for a time of 47:32.
Rest day yesterday, then another crack today.
Came home in 44:48, ave 4:29/km . Absolutely stoked.
Was travelling really well for the first 5kms and had some time in the bank, then realised I'd gone down a decent hill just before the turnaround. Absolutely grovelled my way back up, and thought I was toast for the day, lungs and legs. But hung in, and got a 2nd wind, and scraped home!
So now, with my lockdown goal achieved, the question is do I put my feet up for the next 25 days and get fat again, or set a new target???
I think I'll wait until tomorrow to decide...

Gym is closed. Currently doing shoulder rehab and someone stole my DH MTB. Somehow I haven't put on any weight.

Just came off a half marathon on the rower. Under 90 minutes including breaks, and I'm feeling surprisingly good. Quick bike ride with the kids this afternoon, and then it's a few beers lying on the couch wishing sport was on.
Like someone (@mariner4life?) said, drinking every night like back in Uni days. Lockdowns do funny things to your brain

@nzzp Must be Half Marathon Day!
I completed the Queenstown Half Marathon running event this morning, here is my brief review of the event:
Training was going fairly well in the weeks leading into the event - dialled up the running considerably, along with my daily alcohol intake - its all about balance right?
Yesterday I decided not to break with routine, so had a couple of beers at lunch, then a nap, then a couple of bottles of wine through the late-avo/evening, ate a home-made vindaloo for dinner (post coming in the cooking thread), whilst zooming/housepartying with mates across the globe.
Woke this morning feeling terrific and ready to go at the crack of dawn - which strangely was 7.15am today (really 8.15am adjusting for DS) - a cup of black coffee and half a banana, and I was out the door an hour later.
The event started at my front door, which was convenient. It was a very poorly advertised event, which surely led to the lack of other competitors but I didn't even see a starting marshall or someone sorting registration and bibs. Weird, but no matter.
I started out confidently, but was soon lost as the course didn't appear to be marked at all, and as said above, there was nobody around to follow. So I just made it up.
Lots of people on the course walking dogs and jogging in different directions, even some cyclists - bit bloody rude of them I thought, I trained hard for this.
Still, it was a picturesque 21.1kms, and it finished with a lovely trot (I was basically crawling by this point) around the deserted main streets of QT CBD. I crossed the finish line alone, to the rapturous applause of absolutely nobody.
Overall, a pretty good experience. I guess I technically won the event given I was the only entrant, though you could also argue I should be disqualified for going off course.
Next year I hope they promote it a little better. Would have been nice to get a t-shirt at least.
Now I have napped, and intend to spend the afternoon in the kitchen with much music and wine.
