Ah, guess we were talking about it in the climate thread?

The engineers at the solar company are in full nerdgasm - nearly as much as me!

Let's hope the bastards get it right ;)
-

What conversation!?

System installed today, and first day was good - overcast here but still got 22kW in through the panels. Once they get all the battery stuff hooked up it'll be schweet. Will cut the existing bill down by 80-90%, with ROI at current rates of around 8 years for the whole system. Price goes up, ROI shrinks.

Today I've spoken to the local paper (in person, and photos), The Australian (on the phone, photos), news.com.au (phone only), mashable (photo), and gizmodo (email).

I was on TV tonight about the PowerWall mainly, on The Project here on the Ten network.

The 10 panels photographed are only half the story, as the other section of roof is a bit too high to photograph from the back yard.

I'm the bloke with the least style in these shots. Great head for radio!

Phone call at 6AM. ABC National radio wanted to have a chat. Its starting to get to the point now where my work is a place to relax, away from all these intrusive media people.

So Miss the Aussie wanted to go for a walk and the interview wasn't until after 7 - we did 1.8km as she wore herself out in the first 1000m running. But bloody good effort, particularly compared to her older brother who, at 6AM, was playing Terraria on his fucking iPad. Why the hell did we ever buy those things?

Radio interview was fine, Channel Nine are coming some time today.

By the time I settle down for a beer this afternoon I'll have spoken to a metric shitload of people about this thing.
-

A mate of mine did something pretty similar many moons back after a few ales by Wellington waterfront. Not sure if it's coincidence or not but of the group of blokes that were around and laughing at him he's the only one that doesn't have any children all these years later......luckily for him his inner thigh as opposed to his groin took most of the impact.

Except for a bit of walking and the odd pull up here and there, I've not done much of late.

But I've been teaching the kids to ride the new bikes we bought them, which made me think I should get back on mine.

What had been stopping me was the vision loss thing in my right eye - not the sort of thing you want to carry into a road situation with trucks and whatnot. Not do I want to hit some idiot's dog/child because I was blindsided.

But a mate said it might be better on the bike with no impact, compared to the running. So I thought I'd give it a go.

No dice. Instead of getting the vision issue at 1km/5 minutes I got it at 3km/7 minutes.

Fuck.

Anyway, it was evening, so I was relying on light more than movement to detect vehicles etc and I clocked up 7km in 20 minutes.

Good little workout for the legs. This vision thing I'll just have to push through until I get fitter, and see if things improve.
