During the debate, when the issue of allowing fruit pickers into NZ from the islands, Jacinda didn't rule it out but said this was an opportunity to get jobseeking NZers in to do the work and that it was a matter of making the conditions attractive. I laughed out loud at her arrogance or naivete depending on whether you think she truly believes what she says. NZers are too damn lazy to do jobs like that, why do you think the growers need to use tourists and islanders in the first place? So fruit will risk rotting in the fields while movie crews and yachties can come on in
Garbage article. The "lower" rents are $550 per week. There's no way people are going to relocate for a seasonal job that will require $4400 up front in deposit in an expensive area, and will have them save no money.

For someone who knows very little about NZ Politics, has one party ever governed alone under the current system. If Labour do go alone what does this mean for policies etc, can they push through what they want or is there another level to debate and vote on these things. What is the record number of seats for one party?

This will be the biggest MMP majority ever. Labour can do what they want without a coalition partner, but might throw the Greens a bone or two to keep them in the tent

The Aotearoa legalise cannabis party will be nervous. If the referendum passes, will be fraught times at party HQ on Monday...

How about a couple of environmental policies. You know, actual green issues...

You would think so, especially as Jacinda has promised not to hang the bourgeoisie up on lamp posts as the Greens would want

National are getting a good old fashioned hiding. Even my electorate of Waikato, that the Nats have held with a massive majority since the 1960s, the dude has a lead of just 100 or so votes over the Labour candidate. He won last time by over 14,000 votes.

I wonder what @Baron-Silas-Greenback makes of all this ?
-
@Mokey yeah SHane Reti walked the Whangarei one last time, he is 600 behind presently.
As I have said all along, I am happier for Labour to be there on thier own rather than needing the Greens to cosy up with, so if things stay this way...
-
@taniwharugby I hope they don't lose Reti altogether if he loses his seat. He seems like a good man and one for the future
-
@taniwharugby yep, I don't want the Greens being able to dictate anything.

If he hasn’t spontaneously combusted already it’s only a temporary reprieve until Biden wins.
