@canefan they distribute it out to jab the border workers. For whatever reason they don't use it all. They send out an email saying there is some spare front up if you are interested. This offer is oversubscribed and they run out.
The Ministry said this situation is likely to repeat given they can't totally predict the uptake but that in future they will send out more targeted emails.
That doesn't sound like the lack of a plan to me. It sounds like Plan B but poorly implemented the very first time.
Yeah, it just doesn't look good. Clearly it is not possible to have a contact list of priority workers to run down as stocks of vaccine become available then.....

This guy is on the same page. South Auckland is on the front lines. Pay to get people to help spread the message. If it is too late to get existing staff or new staff up to speed early, enlist the help of community leaders and maybe offer some form of incentive. Try to create a real team atmosphere where people want to take responsibility for each other's actions
I'm loving the irony that a bunch of sky fairy believers think that covid is just a conspiracy and made up

The vaccine comes with extras and only lasts a few days once thawed, so it's easy to have leftovers.
Also, apparently NZ nurses can get an extra dose out of the vials - normally that takes special syringes (we have some, but not enough for everywhere), but our nurses managed to work it out using normal syringes. The vials hold 6 doses, so there's an extra 20% (DHBs were working on 5 doses out of a vial).

It just gets better...
It's the kind of thing you hide from contact tracers, right?

So the 21 year old was in contact with someone in the other household or he was covering for his mum?
-
@nzzp yeah why?
I think someone mentioned above maybe the 21 yr old was meeting up with a daughter in the household he shouldnt have, which is why they didnt disclose it, but in this case, they have disclosed all sorts, why hide this one??
FFS, people cant have thier heads in the sand so bad and not realise the risks of hiding this kind of info!

I think that was me thinking out loud. But maybe it was the mums all along and he was being the good son and trying to cover for her? Either way its fucken annoying. Hopefully now they know where everything fits we will be released on time

So many questions

Considering other things that the government has claimed and been found to be wrong, I'd like proof that the family were informed

Reading the headline she knew she was infected, so why would she need to be told to self isolate? That's like needing to be told the sun will rise tomorrow.

Just re-read it. Says infected, not symptomatic. I'd like to think the ministry were correct and the piece is a irresponsible effort by stuff. But they have been economical with the truth before

Because lots of people can't (or won't) think for themselves. And just trust the experts (and maybe thats wise in these weird times). And if she felt fine ...
So to be fair there is a need to find out what exactly she was told if possible. And in situations like this she should be given very clear written instructions to follow anyway

Got a text from MoH saying she didn't need to supposedly. Easily checked at least, and embarrassing for the ministry if that happened.

Jacinda's messaging is apparently too long...
And some people don't like to be told what to do by the government. Young people need to be told by young people. Can we stop making excuses?
