Bastille day truck crash

Bollards so people can freely congregate en masse.

#PrayforNice

OK, being philosophical, do people interpret these slogans as meaning "Show solidarity", or are people actually being asked to pray?
-

Typically they wait for the public declaration of allegiance to emerge - usually this is done by the perp by leaving a message online or with authorities in the lead up to the attack.

Once the press announce that, they'll claim. -

Yeah, but that is of limited use. EG there's bollards stopping anyone driving into Covent Garden piazza. Liecester Square etc, but you could easiliy get up a good head of steam & kill 100's in a truck down Oxford street, Regents street, Long Acre etc.

They used to have fencing up at the corner in Oxford circus etc, but have taken it down because it makes pedestrian traffic flow better so any given Saturday you could come straight down Oxford street, cut the corner, kill 150, & carry on down the sidewalk on Regents street.

There's pretty much zero way to defend againhst it bar banning all trucks from city centres
-

Yeah, they don't seem to really coordinate any attacks on the west. They just hope their followers in western countries do something and then declare for ISIS so they can claim it.
-

but thats a little different to them co-ordinating it, like the attacks on Paris...they dont claim attacks that arent thiers, but will gladly accept someone who claims to have fought in thier name.

Safe travels mooshld.

That's the trouble with the thoughts and prayers brigade - action wins every time.
-

I was in Nice the very next morning, absolute chaos as you would imagine. People waiting around looking very grim, presumably waiting on news of loved ones. The main promenade closed to traffic and a five minute journey took almost an hour. People in tears all over the place. All very sad.

Did someone tell you about this or is it just how you deal with tragedy in the Jegga household? -

"Yeah this brave man [mumbles random name] was definitely one of ours!"

As ISIS continually have their arse handed to them out in the desert, they'll latch onto anything. What's odd is they usually wait for some form of allegiance call from the perp to come out before doing this e.g. the 911 call to police before the Orlando attack, or some facebook post etc. Haven't seen anything like that announced?

Anyway, the other story coming out today is that he sent some money - $150K - to his family before the attack:

http://www.news.com.au/world/europe/he-was-not-a-muslim-he-was-a-sh-death-driver-identified-as-france-mourns/news-story/7bd78b0439c69d35a32b4b77e87e05eb

Overnight Bouhlel’s family revealed he had sent $150,000 just days before the atrocity.

“Mohamed sent the family 240,000 Tunisian Dinars ($150,000) in the last few days,†his brother Jaber Bouhlel told the Daily Mail.

“He used to send us small sums of money regularly like most Tunisians working abroad. But then he sent us all that money, it was fortune.

“He sent the money illegally. He gave cash to people he knew who were returning to our village and asked them to give it to the family.â€

And he also wasn't the most popular chap in the family:

A cousin of Bouhlel’s wife described him as a “nasty piece of work†who beat his wife and was not a Muslim.

He was a dual Tunisian-French national who lived in Nice.

“Bouhlel was not religious. He did not go to the mosque, he did not pray, he did not observe Ramadan,†Walid Hamou, a cousin of Bouhlel’s wife Hajer Khalfallah, told MailOnline.

“He drank alcohol, ate pork and took drugs. This is all forbidden under Islam. He was not a Muslim, he was a s***. He beat his wife, my cousin, he was a nasty piece of work.â€

-

These stories always come out with people claiming he is not a Muslim. We can agree he was a s*** though. He drove a bus through a crowd, ISIS have claimed it.

Until it is proved otherwise, he worked for ISIS and therefore Islamic supremacists. Everything else is fluff, much like the stories that turned out to be myth about the Orlando bomber being gay.
-

Bastille Day terrorist was radicalised within months and sent £84,000 to his Tunisian family days before attack

the key factor is pretty obviously that the guy was fucked in the head already.
