I'M DOING THE AUCKLAND MARATHON!!!!
-
I'm learning my dear readers, I'm learning!!

It has only just occurred to me this week that nutrition is a massive part of this, especially when your running 4 hours a week. I have really let myself down this week after what was a magnificent start with some really invigorating and dynamic runs... (well for me, maybe not to wee running Billy)

Usually by Tuesday I know exactly where I will be running for the weekend but this week I let myself down with a lack of preparation. You will see below <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

29 Jul 48mins Easy flat. COMPLETE in the pouring rain along the river bank. I think I enjoyed this run the most as it was exciting in the rain and I was having a rubbish week at work, so managed to let it all go during the run.

30 Jul 48mins Hills COMPLETE. I set myself a target of 8 k's just to increase my pace a bit as I have been running 7 min k's recently. I only managed 7.6k's but I was happy enough with that.

31 Jul 48mins Hills COMPLETE. Sucky boring run. River banks were closed off and I like to have an idea as to where I will run before I leave. I had to make this up as I went and ended up running around suburbia which is dull as dirt. Completed it easily enough though.

01 Aug 100mins Hills INCOMPLETE!!!!!!! AAARRRRRGGGGHHHH Woke up on Sat morning feeling flatter than I ever have before any run. Went out over to the University to run round the perimeter and only managed 1 lap of 4.6k's. I just had nothing in me even after my first metre. Pulled up and packed a sad and went home. In hindsight there may have been a few factors, like my body just asking for a longer rest this week etc, etc,etc But the biggest factor was I had only had a Banana in the morning instead of a proper breakfast and also I didn't have my "game head" on. It BEEP'n ruined my whole weekend as I have been so focused each week on getting it right for the big run on the weekend.

In saying all that, I'm not going to beat myself up about it anymore, instead I will 'regroup' in my head and plan better. Will head over to The Mount this weekend for my run as it will be my longest yet. See below

05 Aug 48mins Easy flat
06 Aug 48mins Hills
07 Aug 48mins Hills
09 Aug 110mins Hills

So a 'no excuses' week coming up for me this week. A lot of hard work and better nutrition.

I have found it very hard to write this, this week as I'm a positively engineered person and to write so much negativity irks me no end!! I want next Sunday to come round and for myself to be chomping at the bit to write up all the good things I have done in the week.

So, Head Up Hooroo and Heads Up my dear readers, I'm not going to let you down!!!!!

Loving all your support I am receiving!!!

Cheers xxx
You did well to even get out the door in the weather this week. I went for a bike ride/run on Mondays and that's been it!

Cold, wet, and windy, not much fun.
I know what you mean but I loved running in the stormy weather! A lady caught up to me and started chatting about how mad we both were!! I don't think she was too far from the truth <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> -
What's a heatpump???? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

I have been really good at justblocking everything out and getting out on the pavement. It must be easier training in Winter than the heat of summer? Can't really compare as this is the most running I have ever done -
Oh Hi!!!!!

Sorry for the delay. I went out for a run on Saturday and I've just got back................ POOF Wakes up POOF.

Yeah, sorry for that I have been tired and grumpy and you'll see why. I have been recovering [from a hangover I hear someone from the back shout, but no] from my first INJURY!!!! AAARRRGGGHHH! Was actually fairly worried as I haven't played rugby for a few years now and have since softened up even more than I was. It was really really smarting and thought I was going to be out for ages. Fear not though my dear readers as I'm pounding again!!! STOP IT, I'm pounding the pavement. Get your filth out of the gutter!

Ok, so a weekend, albeit delayed, in review.

05 Aug 48mins Easy flat COMPLETE but slow joe was Hooroo!!! Really was a plod
06 Aug 48mins Hills COMPLETE A tough hill run but done effectively
07 Aug 48mins Hills COMPLETE!!!!! BEST RUN EVER!!!!!!!! Exactly the same as the day before but boy-O-boy was I driving it Waikato, well not Waikato this season, but Driving it Waikato like the Season they won a game!!!! Really upped the pace up and down the hills and nothing could stop me. Still buzzing from it and it was nearly a week ago
09 Aug 110mins Hills INCOMPLETE!!!! Yes, 2 incomplete long runs in a row. I was over at The Mount for the weekend and was on the second lap of the Mountain and both my calf muscles went at the same time!!! I could feel something was wrong but there is usually something a bit sore when running and it usually goes away but I was plodding away and within two steps both went pop pop. FANG it hurt man!!! Naturally I crouched down into a ball and started to weep uncontrollably... nah, but I was ticked off!! Thing was, I was passing a couple of real bunnies when it happened and I just stopped dead and was staring at them like a right noddy. Anyway, after I waved them by I limped back to the car.

So not a successful weekend but the good thing is, they've come right and I'm running again, a little tentatively but still running. Weekend picked up though as I met a chick who dug me and we're off on a date on Friday... again at The Mount so will run there on Saturday morning this weekend.

Righto this week I have:

12 Aug 48mins Easy flat
13 Aug 42mins Hills
14 Aug 48mins Hills
16 Aug 120mins Hills

Hoping there isn't a hitch with the run on Saturday. Looking forward to it though.

OK then, good luck for the All Blacks against the Springboks and come on Waikato, surely you can beat Manawatu.

Hope you all have a good week and I will try and prevent a delay for next weeks review.

Ciao
Hooroo -
Good day to you all.

It's been a weird couple of weeks of training due to injury and some freaky medical happenings.

So a quick summation of my training for the past two weeks.

12 Aug 48mins Easy flat INCOMPLETE. I didn't even attempt this run as I was resting up my calf muscles upon good advice
13 Aug 42mins Hills COMPLETE but ran 48 mins up and down hills and I managed 8.2 k's which is smoking quick for me and these hills are steep and long so I was particularly pleased with this. No muscle pain either
14 Aug 48mins Hills COMPLETE Just couldn't stop running as I ran for an hour knowing that I should stick to the plan but I had so much extra energy and just didn't want to stop. Love that feeling
16 Aug 120mins Hills INCOMPLETE Was going really well and running up and down hills and then on the flat and then after 1 hour and 28 mins I felt my calf start to go. I imediately stopped and just walked on home. Was fairly miserable as I thought it was going to be a real issue for training. I was going so well too and enjoying the run.

So not the happiest of times or me especially since on the Monday I had acute chest pains while at work and had to go to A&E. This hasn't been resolved properly yet either and freaks me out so I didn't do a single short run this week at all. I have been to my GP and he said that it is probably nothing and just a muscle straing as the ECG wasn't too bad and the blood tests were ok except some enzyme that is raised but that is probably due to the training. So off to the Cardiologist on Tuesday to confirm it all.

All that said I was allowed to do my main run on Saturday which was 2 hours and 24 minutes. This was amazingly succussful in some ways. I had no muscle or chest complaints which is a real bonus.

I did the run in Wellington and ran from the city and around Oriental Parade to Shelley bay. Beautiful run but in gale force winds!!! Also managed to run the 1st ten k in 60 minutes as had the wind behind me. I have a fairly strong grip on the world but the wind was that strong i was blowin all over the place and when I had to run back into it, it was that strong it pushed me backwards at one stage so there was a bit of walking on the way back. Nice to have run 20 k's though!!

Sorry for the dull write up this week but I was fairly flat all week and highly stressed with the chest pain. Hopefully all is good though. I will be running again on Tuesday and it's an easy week with only a 90 min run on the weekend JOY!!!!

Chin up and all dear readers

Lots of Love

Sounds like an interestint two weeks to say the least!!
Amazing how quick they can run mate!!! Staggering that I probably couldn't keep that pace for 500metres -
fuck yeah, around the mountain at Mount maunganui is 3300 metres. Takes me and the Mrs about 20 mintues on a good day 21 on a not so good day. Those batards would do two laps and still finish in front of us.

but can they prop a scrum eh? Eh? -
