1969 was our the last time we've beaten them in the sub continent. Amazing.

That didn't happen to be "THE SUMMER OF 69"? did it??

Is it ok to call KW our greatest ever cricketer? Super awesome that he doesn't seem to have that ego most have to be at that level. Seems a genuine nice guy (Not that I would know, having never met him)

@Hooroo greatest batsman without a doubt, I'd still go Paddles overall though, depends how Williamson ends up at the end of his career I spose.

Yeah that is fair. I would still rather have a Kane than a Richard

    Pah!

I've still got a Gray-Nicholls Superscoop in the cupboard.

Lets see if Little Kane is as good as Marty Crowe using that! 🙂

Poor old Marty's efforts being dismissed by people impersonating Millennials! 🙂

The DF magnum I believe. Would be twice as heavy and half as thin as the current bats

I don't want to sound like an old bastard but I don't think anyone could argue that Marty faced a higher quality of quick bowler in his day, and didn't have the benefit of series against ZIM and the Bangles to pad the stats (although I seem to recall he played SL in their early days)

    Once again. READ. THE. THREAD.

    D'oh

  • Crowe used a GM earlier on before the switch to DF.

I remember switching from a single scoop GN to GM and feeling like I was 20 runs better than I was because I was like Crowie.

balanced by today's better bowling plans, better fielding plans, and significantly better fielding.

  • I had a DF bat when I was (much) younger replacing the GN twin scoop and it was a weapon of a bat. In comparison to anything else if it came off the middle (not a common occurrence unfortunately) it would fly towards the boundary. Bloody heavy bat though.

  • Some Kane stats ...

Overall career - of his 111 dismissals, 17.1% he has passed 100, 42.3% he has passed 50. Of the "big 4", Smith and Kohli have a better rate of passing 100, Smith and Root are better for passing 50.

(Taylor - of his 139 dismissals, 12.2% he has passed 100, 32.7% he has passed 50.)

    Kane 2010-2013 - of his 50 dismissals, 8% he has passed 100, 32% he has passed 50.

    Kane 2014-now - of his 61 dismissals, 24.6% he has passed 100, 50.8% he has passed 50.

So in the last 5 years, he makes a hundred 1 in 4 and passes 50 1 in 2. And averages 64.43.

    Marty used Duncan Fearnley.

Yes - I don't have one of those in my cupboard though! 🙂

I do have my Grandfather's Slazenger Demon Driver though, so we can test Kane against Stewie Dempster, as well.

Though I don't know which bat he'll use for the second ball he faces! 🙂

Both of them have their highest scores against Sri Lanka (without the 299 not out vs Sri Lanka, Crowe's average isn't that flash actually, and Kanes 242 not out certainly helps his average).

Crowe also played Zimbabwe, incidentally. In fact Kane has only batted two more innings than Martin against them.

Kane has played Bangladesh, but again only 6 innings.

Kane's average is good because he's a good player. There's not much padding it out with minnows (no more than anyone else).

Excalibur. Now that always looked heavy, only Lance Cairns could wield it. Looks tiny now

Yeah, using the eye test Kane is outstanding. He his so consistent it's almost shocking when he doesn't get runs
