That internet following nonsense never ceases to amaze me. My neighbour was trying to sell his house (no nothing to do with him hating his neighbours), anyway there was not much happening and when he quizzed the agent he was told that "We're marketing it online. It's going very well, you've had a thousand hits so far".

A thousand misses I think you mean was the reply.

the UK housing market on the whole seems absolutely farked. We've now had agreement on 3 houses, instructed lawyers etc, and then had them pulled out from underneath us as the seller just Cancels the sale. The agents think others are telling them to do various things and then try a higher price (we hvae been looking at unrenovated / older places with a view to modernise). One particular example we saw 2 months later on at 50k more than we agreed, after the vendor had spent about 5k on a bathroom, and perhaps another 2k on a granite kitchen. It's just mental.

We had one come back to us and ask us to rebid, so we bid 20k lower than we had agreed. He accepted. We then withdrew and cancelled our bid. Place is still on, back now with the offer at exactly where we had agreed 2 months ago.

quite a pathetic thing to do, but I enjoyed it.
-

This is great to see considering Facebook is where Winger type loons tend to spread their lies.

I saw this on FB and commented on the two things I found funny about the abuse:

1) People call him a CIA puppet, while using the platform HE developed

2) The irony about social media allowing fucktards to spread bullshit

Its great.
-

94% of all children in NZ are fully immunised. That's an overwhelming majority of parents that support immunisation.

It is amazing how fucking loud the other 6% of parents are on this subject!
-

Yep, I guess you could apply that to any fucktarded group though . The more doubt there is about something ie vaccinations causing autism socialism being a viable economic system the more loud and vehement he fuckwits who believe this shit are. -

Sounds like red peak. I wonder how this statistic will end up when it comes down to the final vote.

Simliar with the anti-Key brigade.
-

Read a study the other day that broke down the usage stats of Twitter. Basically saying it now dominates how news breaks and is covered, but only 10% of Australian population is on Twitter, and those users overwhelmingly trend left.

So all of those hashtag campaigns, memes and other shit is generally not seen by 90% of the population. You can see why most right-wing pollies tend to ignore it.
-

With good reason too, of that 10% it'd be interesting to see how many are actually committed to what they post or just want to appear " down with the kids".
If god forbid I ever had the misfortune to be put in charge of the Labour Party my first move would be to make every mp shut down their twitter account and start visiting their electorates to see what people are actually concerned about. Twitters not much of a reflection of the real world .
-

I'm on Twitter because there is less room for drivel. People are forced to get to the fucking point when there is only 140 characters to play with.

Plus there is some funny shit on there.

The people I know who are casual users of Twitter kind of don't get why they need "another, smaller facebook" and that's a fair point.
-

Almost all the Labour MPs are electorate MPs, so they spend plenty of time in the electorates with their ears to the ground. -

but do they actually listen?

Their leader is a list mp and Ardern whos touted as the next in line for the throne is a list mp too. If they have their ears to the ground they aren't doing much with what they hear,The only thing they achieved last year was to stop scrapping in public, about time too.
-

They have 4/32 list MPs, and the other 28 are electorate MPs.

The Christchurch MPs are active helping constituents with rebuild issues, and most of an electorate MP's lot when they're not in Parliament (regardless of party) is assisting constituents with one issue or another.

Yes, they listen. They are very focused on that, as the election result showed they have a lot of listening to do. -

Our local MP is a Labour MP (Stuart Nash). I didn't vote for him but have now met him a few times and he's a decent, down to earth bloke. If the whole party was like him they might develop some policies I'd vote for, I'm not sure he even buys half of their existing ones.
