Not sure whether this should be here or the "Awesome Things" thread, but check out this awesomely cringe-worthy video

The answer is drugs. What ever your question about this is, the asnwer is: Because drugs

Ken Kubiak passed away this weekend after a long battle with cancer and kidney failure. He's the one in the suit from this Francis Sect video from the late 80's

Bloody good song this one despite being a bunch of Australians playing twangy acoustic rock I usually can't stand and the fact that the lead singer looks identical to David Warner. I really dig this song and another one they do, this is a great one to sing along to loudly in the car and embarrass the shit out of the kids.

I was hoping to be Marvin in Pulp Fiction on that trip.

That's got to be your best line, ever! 🙂

Ah, so that's who that is. Interestingly, that song was cowritten with Michael McDonald.

You don't happen to know an Aussie guy called Andrew who is a pretty dedicated guitarist? He followed them right around their only tour in these parts with Cherone. Lives in Sydney. Nearly fainted when he got to meet Eddie pre-show.

    Can play, too.

@NTA It was 1998 so my memory might be failing me, but IIRC there was a Andrew/Andy in our NZ/Aust/USA group that followed VH on their Australasian tour. I haven't had any contact with those guys in quite a few years though.

We were given free tickets and a VIP pass so were able to go to soundchecks and were lucky enough to be granted access to VH's 2 full reherasals in Wellington before the opening gig. Good times.

@Tim We met the band on numerous occasions on that tour and bought each of them an AB jersey as a momento of the tour and a thank you gift. I took that photo of Eddie wearing his AB jersey backstage in Wellington. Michael Anthony wore his during the encore of both NZ concerts.

    @Bovidae

Ha, that's not a bad story dude, didn't realize that was EVH in your photo to be honest !

Van Halen were a pretty good rock band, some cool songs and obviously the man in question was one of the few true Guitar revolutionaries with that finger tapping technique he pioneered.

Re: Style Council. When "Introducing..." came out, Rip It Up's review was, in it's entirety, as follows:

"The Jam plays jazz. Jazz loses."

Not a big fan of Fleetwood Mac......even less of the whole "one bloke and an acoustic guitar" schtick....my dream would be to have Ed Sheeran, Jack Johnson, James Blunt and Pete Murray all thrown under the same bus....

all that being said this song is just beautiful. Love it, fond memories of my folks having this on record back in the day.

Have you seen the Top Gear episode where Blunt is the star in a reasonably priced car? That guy has totally got his shit together.

His twitter feed is brilliant too.

He fully admits his music is to make money. And yea, some of his Twitter put downs of people trying to heckle him are hilarious

Hats off to him for doing that and of course for serving in the military too.

But his music is only surpassed by Sheerans for it's sappy, unlistenable shitness.....

.....and no I wouldn't have sat through Top Gear in a million years either, I'd like to rip Clarksons arm off, shove it up Hammonds arse and beat the other fuckwit ( May ? ) to death with it.
