Low reoffending rates for private prison prompt $6m in bonuses

A private prison operator has been paid millions for reoffending rates that are incredibly low, even by international standards.

Not sure whether this falls under the "awesome" category, which it would be if completely true, or whether it could simply be just be that the released prisoners learnt new ways of how not to be caught when re-offending whilst inside or even more simply that the NZ Police have just not yet got round to arresting them for any offences they might have done after being released.

@Higgins for the most part I think our cops do a great job and catch a good number of offenders, it's usually the courts that let them back into the community.

So hopefully these guys are just good at rehabilitation.
