pretty limp "hit back"....acknowledging and trying to explain
It's Sky UK. There's a reason its subscribership is declining and it loses money.
-
@Machpants me too, although im always interested how many people seem to prefer having a sponsor on jerseys
would be interesting if there is an uptick or downtick in sales, if up you wonder if it would ever be worth it for adidas to pay to not have a sponsor on the front
-
Confidential settlement reached.
-
The official press release is very brief:
New Zealand Rugby and INEOS can confirm that a settlement has been reached between the two parties. Whilst the details remain confidential, both organisations are satisfied with the outcome and acknowledge a desire to now move forward.

Good news, generally means a bit more cash
And we can move on
-
@Machpants obviously more cash than when they weren't paying...

Ineos wouldnt have paid the full amount of the remaining contract.
NZR would have got less but are free to engage with another sponsor

And they can stop paying the lawyers now

NZR had a pretty watertight case. Ineos conceded as much in the press release (blaming business condition in Europe as opposed to NZr not upholding their side of the bargain)
A protracted court case would have been a distraction for NZR and would have put a strain on their resources if they used inhouse legal team to fight this (more thsn likely
Would have had to use outside counsel which would be $$$). Plus, it may put off potential sponsors.Best result to settle it with minimum of fuss, move on and add a new sponsor as the international season starts.

@george33 Think the players will be thrilled. After turning in their Ford Rangers, they now get upgraded to a Toyota Hilux.
I think the ABs are driving nicer cars than Ford Rangers these days. Ruben Love for example was given a Merc to drive by Gazley Motors here in Welly.
-
@Canes4life I reckon a good majority of the All Blacks (The forwards anyway) would prefer a Hilux. They're all from the country, and dream of having a hilux from the age of 5.

That's a personal deal, he might have to give it back and change for a Prius

Toyota confirmed
The All Blacks have signed a multimillion-dollar deal with a new sponsor for training kit naming rights.
A major car brand replaces Ineos, which ended its sponsorship early, with NZR securing more sponsorship money.
The deal aligns with NZR’s strategy to partner with consumer brands, boosting local marketing efforts. -
@Machpants so Ineos & Ford gone, but Toyota on board...have to think there is still a gap between the $$$ that Ineos/Ford paid vs what Toyota will be giving? So is there another likely coming on board soon?

The latest Prius (hybrid car of the year) has been really popular
(sales up 16 to 20% yet not sold in Oz now) and praised - element such as its hybrid system have been adopted into Lexus. No I don't have one or even own a Toyota.
