Agreed. I've given it some thought over the years looking at battles like Calais for 30th Infantry Brigade in WW2.

Yeah but at least in the situations you mention a quick death is a likely scenario. It would be your life slowly ebbing away that would be considerably worse.

Just what I've seen/read here - has given me the justification to wander down to the nearest brewery and wipe it from memory.
One of my occasionally recurring nightmares is exactly this - getting stuck in a tight space. I'm doing all I can to avoid triggering that again. And if that involves an imperial shit-ton of craft beer, and some medical marijuana, so be it. -
