They really dropped the ball (pun intended) with that Bongi call.

I don't see the point in playing Finau off the bench, yes he played there a bit this year, but if we want to see if he's our Kaino-like (acknowledging no one will ever be completely that level) then he has to start.

It is completely weird to pick a 6 in a squad, the only true blue 6, and then play him off the bench.

They have a bunch of pieces that don't quite fit. Or they can't make them fit yet

If they're just killing time until bringing back Frizell my ditching of rugby might happen sooner than I thought.

Simon Parker is the guy I hope they are waiting on

Even then there's a bit of great white hype about him, he had a great season, but we'll need to see him in black and probably another season to see whether he has the goods consistently. Hopefully his injury clears up in time for him to get some AB game time. But yep agree, even with the reservations above, definitely hope it's him instead of the Tongan imposter.

Speaking of great white hypes, whatever happened to Gardiner? He has certainly fell off the radar since the Fern had a collective wank about him when playing for the AB XV. 🙂

Sititi is in a moon boot for a few more weeks. The first Arg test is not until Aug 17.

@Frank he certainly has potential though not in the same stage of development as Parker.

If we're going to play a lock at 6, why on Richie's green earth wouldn't you look at Naitoa?

Isn't he in the squad as injury cover?

Think he was there as a training body.

Agree, but it's even more general: if we're going to play a lock at 6, why would you only select 4?

That's really good stuff. ABs out in the community but also the video itself and getting that out to the fans.

Most teams are doing this now so good to see the ABs move with the times.

I hate all the social media stuff.

    Humanises them.

I preferred when they were aloof, mysterious, unapproachable, arseholes.

The Tik-Tok age has not stood us in good stead.

I remember the AB's training at schools growing up and some doing impropmtu coachin with 1st Xv's. Still looked dark and myserious though...

Checking the lineup on teletext. Hearing Keith Quinn call the game. Buying an $8 jug of Speights.

Fortunately there is the option to choose. If all you want to know is that Fabian Holland is 2.04m tall and 124kg, is affiliated to the Dunedin Sharks, Otago and the Highlanders. You can block out everything else.

The fun thing about this forum is it is clear some people don't like change. Super Rounds, hate em. Understanding personalities and history, hate it. Boots that aren't black, hate it.

Like, provincial rugby, paper programmes, you know the good old days.

We should be able to go to test matches carrying in your own chilli bin full of beer .

I recall people did that at Twickenham a couple of decades ago.

On the small 7 front, Tizzano and McReight seem broadly similar sized to Kirifi but the former at least, and arguably the latter, seem to have more go forward. Is that technique, or something else?

He always seems to be injured and when he does get chance he is prone to doing stupid things. Pity, because he did look good for a short period of time.

Joseph Manu makes next career call amid NRL return rumours

Joseph Manu makes next career call amid NRL return rumours

NRL fans hoping to welcome Joseph Manu back to the league will be bitterly disappointed, with French rugby side Racing 92 announcing the signing of the former Sydney Roosters star until 2027. Manu was long-rumoured to be joining the French-based club; however, many had hoped his departure from...

If Manu does return to pursue his All Blacks dream he will only have the 2027 Super Rugby season to prove himself, should he go down that path.

Kirifi has shown more than enough go forward at lower levels. The test level sample size is fucking 15 minutes, let's stop overthinking it.
