Lions team named and it looks mighty close to what the Test team will probably be. A dress rehearsal for them.

@sparky loosies will struggle around the park and at the lineout, while the front row will get monstered.

British and Irish Lions: Kinghorn, Freeman, Ringrose, Aki, Lowe, Russell, Gibson-Park; Genge, Sheehan, Furlong, Itoje, McCarthy, Chessum, Curry, Conan

Replacements: Kelleher, Porter, Stuart, Van der Flier, Pollocl, Mitchell, M Smith, Hansen

If that is the dress rehearsal for the test squad, the big news is Marcus being picked over Finn Smith. Versatility or has Finn’s showing on Saturday played him out of contention? Or, is it just Buggins’ turn?

In any event, I like the look of that squad, though tough on a few.

@Catogrande I suspect the reserve 10 will be Owen Farrell once he has served his concussion and jet leg protocol.

If Curry and Chessum keep any of Morgan, VDF, or Pollock out of the starting XV then Farrell Sr needs to give himself an uppercut

On the showing so far, it is hard to disagree, but neither Chessum or Curry have had many minutes yet, so I see this as their opportunity to put their hands up.

Yeah I think that's very close to the Test line-up with a couple of players getting an opportunity to change Farrell's thinking before the big calls are made.

I'd say the big news is he's picking out of form Irish players in comparison to the alternatives.

Not sure who you mean really. Furlong perhaps? Maybe but it would be nip and tuck between him and Stuart, with no-one else really putting their hand up. The centres have both played pretty well and have not been seen in tandem yet and you wouldn't want the two Scots boys backing up so soon. The replacements seem fine to me with the possible exception of Hansen.

Still don't exactly know who you mean? Aki, Ringrose, Lowe and Gibson-Park certainly aren't out of form. Furlong maybe? But again, Will Stuart isn't far ahead of him. The bench players are bench players and are all fairly on par with other bench options.

Jones is playing much better than Aki, but Aki was nailed on first test starter before the squad was even named.

Thats not necessarily the wrong decision or way to go about it, but Jones is certainly making them think long and hard.

In comparison with the other squad members. The best centres on display this far weren't Irish. Gibson-Park is probably the best Irish player in the last few years, so I expect he'll start, but the form of Mitchell set the benchmark IMO.

    I'd still pick Lowe.

I think you'll see different back rows across the three tests. I think Chessum is the only 6 to pick if you want a lineout jumper, he's played well when he's had a chance so far. VDF wouldn't get near my team at the moment, Pollock is probably too green to take a risk on IMO. Curry is a beast and I still think is the best out and out 6 on tour.

Curry has been anonymous from most conversations which I find baffling given he was one of the players of the 6N. Although maybe I've just been reading in the wrong places.

Aki is competing with Tuipulotu for 12.

Jones should walk in at 13

I think Tuipulotu/Jones have played better in the last couple of games than Aki/Ringrose but I also don't think the Irish guys are playing poorly, and I don't think the decisions should be made based entirely on the warm-up matches, given the nature of those fixtures.
