Anyone able to do a one armed pullup ? Definitely on my lifetime "to do" list.

Palms facing are my favourite cos they work the guns best. I figure deadlifting works the back enough so don't do palms out as much.

As a kid I remember doing those cheat one arm pullups where you hold the bar with one hand and the other hand around the wrist of the hand holding the bar.

Aint tried one of those for ages but reckon still be easy.

A true one armer would be a struggle!

There's only one thing men were designed to do with one hand.
6am session today, pleased to get through this one pretty well. Strength training was back squat, setting the max score for three reps. I got up to 100kg x 3, very happy with that. Puts my 1 rep max somewhere around 115/120kg apparently, so that's getting up to my deadlift max, so that must have improved now too.

WOD was 12mins AMRAP fo 2 pullups, 4 pushups, 8 x 20kg kettlebell which I think I did 9 or 10 rounds. The kettlebell suuuuucked.

Not directly but they are great in terms of the amount of muscles worked in "stabilising" I'm bloody frustrated I can't do any at the moment with my sore shoulder. That's why experts call them and squats the ultimate exercises. They also help your other lifts to go up.

Yeah a true one armer would be a farkin hell of an effort. Tough to get 100kg up with one arm !

    Yeah, yeah.
Helps having a few guys PBs on the boards as targets. The instructor has some crazy weights to get too, but everyone below him is getable. Ticking them off quietly before they notice...

nice! quietly sneaking up the leaderboard. Great improvement given you haven't been attending for that long as well. Imagine the kind of base strength you'll build up after doing it for a year or so!

should suggest that they have body weights up there too, as a power to weight ratio is often interesting. Especiually when it works in your favour (as when I used to train with prop Cyril, the big guy lifted insane weights, I'd be 20kg down on him, but BW wise was killing it)!!!! So you might be closer to the top than you think?

Nope, I'd be getting my arse kicked. The guy under the instructor is a skinny turkish kid, has amazing cardio fitness and is pretty strong.

Cool session today, strength part was the Push Press, and set my PB for one rep max of 70kg. Top of the board for that is 75kg, and is the instructor, so is in sight! Incremented my pull ups to 5, so improving slowly.

WOD was all about the shoulders too. 5RFT 40kg 12 x Deadlifts, 9 x Hang Power Cleans, and 6 x Push Jerk. Was absolutely stuffed after that, felt like I had popeye forearms. Real weakness on the Hang Power Cleans, after the first two rounds I couldn't complete all the reps in one go, other exercises were easy enough.

Very happy with another PB.

    Push press?? what is that...

ahh just googled to find it - ouch!! man 70kg is a bloody good effort mate! I do shoulder presses which are similar but without the leg push to begin with (and the bar ending up kind of behind your head).

IMO anytime you are lifting 70kg+ above your head you are doing well!

I'm really happy with the progress in four months, the workouts are doing their jobs that's for sure.

You should take another round of pics at the 6 month mark - bet you'll look like a totally different man! Wish I'd got my shit together and done something similar.

Good thing is that you are doing a heap of work through winter when training can be a bit tougher (motivation wise) with the weather etc. You'll be cranking come summer.

Ha, I tend not to ask the time when I'm last in the class. I'll find out.

9 mins 42 @ 40kg. I really struggled with the Hang Power Cleans, having to split the reps in half each time, so lots of wasted time there. The Deadlifts and Push Jerks I could do the full reps in one go for each of the five rounds.

Cheers Kirwan, I've never done this combo in a WOD before but a guy at the gum suggested it last week so we'll see how it goes.

I'll let you know how I go on Sunday, or you can draw your own conclusion if I'm noticeably absent from the thread.....<img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
