Sh*t, you win, well done, what was that, like 2 seconds?
I edited out my Black Ferns team 🙂
    Took too much screen space.

    They've bottled that.

Made a big conviction selection in Ioane, then at smallest hurdle in the most adverse of circumstances drop him completely. On a smaller scale they have also done this with Naholo.

Cruden rendered us rudderless for the final 20 minutes and was a turnover machine - yet somehow is retained over Sopoaga?

If he was retained simply to play his 50th test that is a very poor reason.

Still may win, but somehow with five franchises full of firepower we've selected a bench that will stall our backline rather than up the ante.

Good chance to see the 3 Barrett bros on at the same time
12 and 15 with just 1 cap each is a bit scary, but they are smart skillful dynamic players and should do well.
Good to see Savea back at 11, inexorably creeping higher on the try tally chart, I hope they use him often straight up the middle at full speed, and on cut backs....need to make a little space and hesitation in the rush defence for Laumape to burst through.

Sopoaga would have been better though.

Would this be our slowest back three ever? Jordie is not the quickest and Savea and Dagg have lost a yard of pace it would seem. Having two rookies makes me very nervous.

They've only bottled it if we lose. Otherwise it's a masterstroke.

Not too sure about Jordie Barret - I'm not quite on the band wagon yet he has done some good stuff at super level but so has McKenzie. His defense is bloody suspect as well. Only change I would have made was Julian Savea.

Ultimately the winning and losing will be done from the 10 jersey on down. So it's hardly panic stations and I'm confident the ABs will win the breakdown and tackle.

Purely in regards to Hansen's selections, it's been pretty poor planning. He released Savea and Barrett to the Canes because Hansen said they weren't in the frame to play the Lions going forward and wanted them to get a chance (while patting himself on the back after Ioane's selection). Then somehow after one of the stranger tests in recent times Hansen has done a complete U-turn on everything.

    Pretty harsh on those guys.

Does Joride kick? Not ideal in your first start, but perhaps that is part of the story?

@Gary Agreed. The worst defender in Super Rugby. Dagg isn't flash either so we definitely have defensive flaws at the back.

I think the issue with Ioane is his work rate - when the forwards were a man down a bit of help from one of the wingers carting the ball up would have been good.

I know all these guys are hardened pros and all that, but a young guy making his debut in that cauldron, maybe a bit more on field guidance wouldn't have gone amiss? I think he's been very hard done by.

He ought to but in 2003 you would have said the same about a certain Mr J Wilkinson who "stalled" at 91 for England. Nearly four years out with injury screwed that idea.

Neither is a natural and do you want to bog down Jordie with that duty on what is essentially his debut?

I probably wouldve started Fekitoa to add some starch in defense , but .... ive coached no one I guess ,

    Trust in shag 🙂

The jordie and Laumape selections do make me feel a little nervous

extremely surprised at the selection of J Barrett for the biggest game in NZ since 2011.

Certainly wouldn't have put money on both Laumape and JB starting, two very green players in the back line now - but in Shag we trust.
