There is a bit of fun and games going on between NZ and SA Immigration at the moment which he could have fallen foul of.
NZ tightened the rules on SA entry to NZ because of the number of fraudulent SA passports and SA got pissed off and are making NZers jump through extra hoops.

The Stuff article above said that Nankivell wasn't even in the touring party due to illness.

Chiefs midfielder Alex Nankivell has been barred from entering South Africa for his side's Super Rugby quarter-final against the Stormers.

Nankivell was a possible starter at second-five for the Chiefs on Sunday morning, but an issue with his passport meant he could not enter Johannesburg when the Chiefs arrived earlier this week.

Chiefs coach Dave Rennie put the issue down to a clerical error when the passports were sorted in Wellington.

"All the passports are administered in Wellington, they had to be physically taken down there, and all our visas are valid until 31/8/2017, for some reason Alex's.... expired at the end of June."

So his Visa expired 31 June.

Assume the SA embassy issued Visas?

Dave mightn't have been quite so relaxed if it had been Brodie Retallick shipped home! 🙂

Embarrassing lack of common sense and totally excessive bureaucracy by SA immigration.

Anybody in the UK lining up to watch this - a little worried about the entry in the Sky schedule seeming rather too short to show the entire game?

@Kruse Yep. Although there is a replay (of the whole game) which is scheduled to be shown at 12:15am-02:20am on Sky Sports Action

Looks like I'll have to fall back on RugbyPass over VPN for the 2nd half.
@Bones - it seems you'd be better off recording the replay at 12:15.

I heart rugbypass. Their highlights package is proper highlights...and I can watch full game replays...no more pissing off the wide and kids by "the game is on now, can't do this or that"...and no chance in rural Switzerland of some bastard spoiling the match by telling me the score before I get to watch the game...

I've taken out the 12 month pass.

@Billy-Tell Yeah - I signed up for a 12-month pass, then discovered it doesn't work from the work's "BYO device" wifi.
Still - worth it, if only for the option of going for a weekend ride, pulling out the tablet, and watching a game on replay on-demand. If there was only ever a fucking sunny weekend in this goddamn country.

Why does it feel like every time in the Republic we have to battle the referee as well

Jaco seems fine... I'm not particularly optimistic about the assistants or TMO though.
Still - not as bad as the Japanese - hearing the Tokyo TMO was like listening to a drunken Japanese rugby fan yelling at the TV.

I thought DMac jumped after/as the tackler put his head down for the tackle - a card would have been rather harsh.
(Queue conversation about consistency or lack thereof, and other ridiculous decisions....)
