On to the glamour positions. The fucking backs.

    Number 9:

    1. Smith
    2. TJP
    3. Weber
    4. Pulu (not a starting option, I hope)
    5. Drummond
    6. Hall
    7. ??

Hoping for big seasons from Nock, Enari, and that U20s guy who came on for the Hurricanes.

Hall is the starting halfback for the Crusaders and Drummond is rated behind him by Robertson. Enari is the most promising of the list behind the 1, 2 and 3.

    Number 12:

    1. SBW (unmatched physical ability)
    2. Crotty (admit it, you thought that Mr. Gap was going in here)
    3. Laumape
    4. ALB
    5. Moala
    6. Buckman
    7. Faiane
    8. Ngatai (fingers crossed for a full season in 2018)
    9. Aso
    10. Faauli
    11. Havili
    12. Thompson

I'd have Buckman before Moala, and Havili and Thompson before Faauli'i.

    Centre:

    1. ALB
    2. Crotty
    3. Goodhue
    4. Fekitoa (still available at this stage)
    5. Ioane
    6. Moala
    7. Aso
    8. Procter
    9. Vaega
    10. Tamanivalu

When he is fit, Matt Proctor is the first choice centre at the Hurricanes, not Aso.

It's hard to say these days with some teams as sone coaches trust certain players to finish out a game more than the starter. I don't think there is much if any difference between either of them. Both make me wanna throw the remote....

    Time for number 7.

    1. Cane
    2. Todd
    3. Savea (not very good this year, more of an impact player)
    4. Gibson
    5. Dillon Hunt
    6. Pryors
    7. Lentjes
    8. Boshier

Probably a couple of others worth naming.

Up and comers: There's a couple in the U20 team - Luke Jacobson and Dalton Papali'i.

Not sure about Todd being Nr.2 after his poor display against the Lions.

Todd was fine against the Lions I thought. Certainly didn't get much support from his other two loosies though.

I think Hansen's comments about Todd tell the story of where he's at.

Yeah - I think this one is too close to call. Both have been given plenty of starts and plenty of time coming off the bench. I think Razor is playing the Sexton/Hammett game with them - showing little or no preference.

If anything, I've thought Drummond has looked a bit more composed. When the play-offs come we might get more of an inkling.

    @Tim

    I'll go with :

    1. Smith
    2. TJP
    3. Christie
    4. Pulu
    5. Weber

The other nines are nowhere near an AB jersey.
Enari and Parapara are the ones who will get under scrutiny next year.

Weber would be favoured to start for the Chiefs ahead of Christie so should get more opportunities to impress.

Christie's clearing from the ruck is impressive and second to Aaron Smith only. His kicking may be a question but has Weber a better one than his ?
Poaching him from Scotland for the EOYT could be funny too !

@cgrant Having seen plenty of Weber play for both the Chiefs and Waikato he does have some faults, namely erratic passing. I am just saying that he should start as the no.1 halfback next season.

Christie impressed me in the Chiefs-Lions game and his passing was very good last week as well. I'm not too sure about his kicking. Although he was born in Scotland he moved to NZ when he was 7.

@Bones Steady on, he hasn't worn the mighty Neapolitan ice-cream coloured jersey yet.

Well, Billy Guyton was preferred to Christie for the Mako$ last year, so probably he should slot in third on the list.

Maybe he's even better than Perenara?

    @Tim?

    🙂

A lot of love for Christie on here based on a couple of showings. Earlier in the season he looked very ordinary. I'd wait to see a string of good performances before getting too excited. He has certainly shown that he can be good but has also shown he can be poor.

given recent history, look for people debuting this year in Super rugby.

Figured I'd scroll through this thread, after the recent squad naming.
A few interesting pieces, but m4l's one of the standouts.

Random thought. With 51 in EOYT squad, and a few others who've trained or better with ABs -- Aukira/Taufua/Frizzell/JTA/Cane, etc., nearly 30% of the 2019 Super squads have been through the AB system this year. Talk about not leaving any stones unturned!!
