@mn5 no doubt bro, no doubt! Fark, just googled and they use up to 450kg tires in Strongman. Lightweight baby!
@taniwharugby you need to run a more explicit root, I mean route!!

You'd be surprised Paeks. I did an 800lb one. Bear in mind you're not lifting the entire weight at any time and the trick is to 'drive' through it as opposed to lift it. With your lifting stats ( also the guns were looking magnificent the other night ) you'd nail it easy.

the reason my ROUTE starts at Girls high is TR Jnr has his Tae Kwon Do classes there...plus, I spent enough time there in my 7th form year (>10 years ago...) to not worry about it anymore!!
Anywhoo, bit of rain this arvo so decided to go up Parihaka instead of my run from last week as the trail would have been slippery as.
Starts again at 81m elevation, gets down to 13m before ascending to 230m in about 800m, was 5.94km in the end, which was a bit further than I had thought it would be haha.

4.5km run today, round a flat concrete loop, 5.30 per km, which is slower than I thought Id be on a run like this, but was feeling a bit lethargic and not keen to run today so maybe that was it.
-
didnt do anything on THursday as I normally do as I spent the day in the water at Goat Island with MIss TR's class.
First time I been there in years, shows how good marine reserves are, loads of good sized fish!
Anywhoo...today, bloody warm up here, spent the day outside doing shit then did a work out:
Did the 2,4,6,8...20 although with some slight variaton
Sumo pulls/press, press ups, pull ups (once I got to 10 I just kept doing 10 with an assistance band as I could feel it in my shoulder) shoulder circles (multiply rep by 4) mountain climbers (x4)
THe shoulder circles are supposed to be good for the rotator cuff, which I irritated again on wednesday sleeping FFS, so I think if it doesnt sort itself soon I will need to get it seen to, but want to leave it until after summer really as it is more an irritation than anything significant (although I have no idea how major rotator cuff surgery is)

I've got an old rotator cuff injury from nine years ago (ski fall). It's generally pretty good, but definitely a weakness there. Can be aggravated by sleeping in an awkward position, but I've learned to have an extra pillow handy, and with that under one's arm seldom an issue.
I imagine certain medico's have exercises which may release it -- witness the Rieko 'miracle' -- but if you want it 99% (doubt 100 is achievable) I think keyhole surgery is fairly 'minor' but does mean four to six months before being fully functional.
-
@pakman mine is an old rugby one, about 15 years?
Mine has been maybe 99% since then, woke one morning and there was so,e pain. Strength wise I never had any issue was more the movement and when the pain kicked in.
Even now having irritated it twice in two months, strength feels fine but is more restrictive and more pain (not real pain but enough to make me less inclined to push it)
I don't want to go for surgery, so will avoid if possible.
I ice it most nights, which helps.
-
@taniwharugby Mine I'd put at 95%. There is a position, with my hand at shoulder level, where it is quite a lot weaker than other side. Once an inch or two higher full strength again. There is a also some slight play in the shoulder when arm stretched down and out. I occasionally irritate mine doing shoulder exercises, but that applies to both sides. Takes a little strength away and seems best not to push it.
That said, I'm in my 50s and a life of doing sports (tennis as well) does mean one's shoulders get wear and tear. The ligaments gradually get frayed over time and at some point there can be swelling. Because the channels they run in are quite narrow that can lead to shoulder impingement syndrome. I suspect that is what I now get occasionally. Answer is ice, ibuprofen and taking it easy for a few days. That has worked for me.
I have avoided surgery, and not keen. The only thing I will say is that I'm considering getting a specialist to give me a check up. The reason is that I expect being at 95% may be accentuating the wear and tear, so if a surgery were advisable I'd probably be smart to think about it while I'm young enough to heal well.
