- Mitchell Hunt drops a stunning last minute drop goal securing the win for the Crusaders during the Super Rugby season. (Crusaders vs. Highlanders, Christchurch)
- Michael Venus wins the French Open men’s doubles final to become the first New Zealand male Grand Slam champion since 1974. (French Open, Paris)
- Black Ferns Sevens win the World Rugby Women’s Sevens Series. (Black Ferns Sevens vs. Australia, Clermont-Ferrand)
- Emirates Team New Zealand win the America’s Cup.(Emirates Team New Zealand vs. Oracle Team USA, Bermuda)
- Brendon Hartley and Earl Bamber – win the Le Mans 24 hour race.(Le Mans, France)
- Black Sox win the World Softball Championships title for the seventh time. (Black Sox vs. Australia, Canada)
- Tom Walsh wins the shot put gold medal to become the first New Zealand male to win an IAAF track and field championship. (IAFF World Track and Field Championships, London)

- Lisa Carrington wins the K1 200m gold medal for the fifth time at the World Canoe Sprint Championships.(World Canoe Sprint Championships, Czech Republic)
- Ross Taylor achieves a record equalling 17 test centuries with the Blackcaps in the second test against the West Indies. (Blackcaps vs. West Indies, Hamilton)
Strange list. Very difficult to compare some of these "moments" with each other. I mean, Mitchell Hunt's drop-kick was an awesome nerves-of-steel kind of game winner, but relatively minor compared to - sticking to rugby - winning a World Sevens Series or a World Cup.

Best day of my year (and I got married in January!)... will remember forever the showers of beer raining down as everyone at the game jumped in celebration.
Afternoon game too, myself and 3 friends (lawyer, accountant, dentist) were refused entry to one of the shittiest Irish bars in town at 6pm for being too intoxicated

A bit odd that Ross Taylor makes the list for his 17th test century to equal Martin Crowe's record, but Kane Williamson does not make the list for doing the exact same thing in March at Hamilton against South Africa.

Just saw that Hunt's drop goal was the winner on the night. How you compare a single play to 'Black Ferns Win World Cup' or most of the other contenders I don't know, but a little disappointed that others didn't share the sentiment around Ross' 17th ton.

Been discussed a lot on RS, and the DG, similar to the 'pitch pole' for ETNZ in the Americas Cup and Elliot's 6 v SA are more what some see as a 'moment' than an entire game...a bit ambiguous and depends on how you look at it?
