cheers to Spurs for pretty much guaranteeing Liverpool top 4.

The table this year seems a very accurate reflection of the state of the teams. City a mile in front. Man U, Spurs, and Liverpool all pretty close, but in the right order, and a fair way behind the leaders. A gap to Chelsea, and then to Arsenal, with their managerial "issues"

Then the rest all being differing levels of shit, meaning Leicester in 8th are as close to 19th as 4th.

West Brom are gone. But everyone from 19th -12th could easily go with them.

City winning the league at Man U this weekend would be pretty cool.

That would be sweet. I still remember watching Sylvain Wiltord's goal doing the same for Arsenal in 2001-02 EPL.

Mou will be parking the bus and anything else he can find.

Nice to finally win at the Bridge. 27 years is a long time!

Spurs vs Chelsea was a fantastic game. Both sides had loads of opportunities in the first hour, but once Alli got the 2 in 4 mins, tactics changed and it sort of petered our.

Eriksens strike was amazing. look at how far above the crossbar it was about 5 metres out from goal. Incredible strike.

I expect Conte to go soon, but I hope not. Been a funny old year so far. Mourinhos golden touch seems to have left him as wel. This weekends game should be an invigorating watch.

Forget about this weekend. How about the Champions League QF on Thu (NZT) - Liverpool vs Man City?

@bovidae I would have felt more comfortable against anyone except City really. Not really expecting to progress.

See Ronaldo and Real thumped Juventus this morning.

    @mariner4life

Liverpool did hand Man City their only loss in the EPL so should take some confidence from that performance.

@bovidae yea, 4-3, so it should be a cracking tie, both managers will have a go. That's probably our best hope to be fair, Liverpool under Klopp have battled to break down teams who sit right back.

Not EPL, but worth going online to find a video of Ronaldo's goal against Juve overnight. One of the most impressive goals I've ever seen. Juve fans all stood and applauded.

Think Di Canio's scissor kick ... upside down.

@mariner4life you would have enjoyed waking up to the score? Not even half time and the scousers are 3-0 up

Ridiculous. 3 goals is great. to keep them to zip (without a shot on target) despite their possession stat is very impressive.

Just to need to jag one in the return leg.

Meanwhile Pool flog City 3-0 with TAA having an outstanding game for a young man (19).

I watched the Liverpool-Man City game live. Liverpool just did what Klopp said they would in the 1st half - high pressing and counter-attacks. I was expecting Man City to get an away goal in the 2nd half but it never happened. Advantage Liverpool.

@antipodean Agree about Alexander-Arnold, he kept Sane in check. Shit, even Oxlade-Chamberlain scored a screamer.

It was clear what Liverpool's game plan was going to be but they executed it perfectly in the first half. First to every loose ball and never let the City players settle. And City just looked as baffled as they for periods of that 4-3 as if the tactic was unprecedented. And 3-0 is a HUGE win for them.

Have to say Liverpool look so much more solid now than earlier in the season, really defend and attack as a unit.

TALKING Europe Arsenal look like they're through to SF of Europa League keeping their slim hopes of CL footy next year alive - slim coz Atletico are in the comp. Lazio likely to join those two in semi's and either Marseille or Leipzig.

Despite all the European action this week the biggest story for me has been the death of Butch Wilkins - one of my favourite players of the 80's and IMO vastly under-rated. Captain of Chelsea at 18 FFS

If Liverpool came 5th in EPL and won CL and Arsenal won Europa would that mean there would be 6 EPL teams in CL next season???

(I do realise Liverpool won't come 5th and Arsenal won't win Europa)

Maximum of 5 in each of Champions and Europa Leagues Minimum of 4 and 3 respectively.

In the scenario you envisage only the top 3 from the Premier League would qualify.

This is an Arsenal fan's wet dream if Spurs were to finish 4th 😉

Liverpool beat City again (1-2) and the massive result is Roma beating Barca 3-0 to give them 4-4 aggregate where the away goal sends Roma through. That is huge!

Man City had a goal disallowed on HT due to a bad ref/AR error. A 2-0 lead going into the 2nd half would have made the tie very different.
