Driver technology has sure advanced over the years. When I was single figure handicapper in my late teens I struggled to hit my driver. Was 3 wood off the tee. From then I never really bothered with the old 1 wood. This was until last year where I hit a mates cheapy Srixon 460cc driver and wow I was amazed how easy it was to hit long and reasonably straight. I then purchased a decent driver....changed everything.
-
Yeah I used to only use a 3 wood (whic h I might add, is still the same 3 wood I have in my bag, I have never found anything that comes close to it! IS a Wilson firestick shaft and the head is so tiny compared to the new stuff)

Pretty sweet deal on grabone today for Auckland golfers.<br />
<br />
Basically it's $28 for 2 rounds at Formosa. Your $28 gets you a green fee (usually 45 affiliated) and upon playing that round you get a voucher for a 2nd round free.<br />

You don't speak with a very husky voice and guest with Murray Deaker, JK (world of golf)? <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /><br />

I played a few rounds at Methven last year, on days when ski-ing was bad. It's a very nice and good value course. -
hahah nah mate.....and I don't coach a frustrating blues side either <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ireful.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ireful:' /><br />

I'm playing at Pupuke this weekend. My old stomping ground. Should be pretty interesting given how much my game has changed over the years. -
Had a very enjoyable round this morning at pupuke. Not a lot of spectacular golf but very steady and lots of birdie putts I just couldn't convert. <br />
<br />
End result was a 79 and my first sub 80 round in about 10 years. And my first handicap back is 9.1 -
What a fucking over achiever

Ha, after I came back from the UK, and about 7 years of no golf (5 or 6 rounds in that time constitutes no golf) they put me straight back to the same handicap I was on when I left, whici I felt was quite unsportsmanlike given I was pretty good before I left...and wasnt anymore (nor am I now)<br />
<br />
Have you logged into the dotgolf site? -
sh!t, first time I logged in there for ages and my handicap is lower than I thought it was (and what it should be) <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /><br />
<br />
I just need to play a few times as I have a couple of decent rounds to drop off which should see my handicap go out...but the fact I have a round in November 2010 that is my 6th last round says it all really! -
i would be stoked to get a single-figure handicap for 9 holes....
-
I won our top dog final on Saturday with 25 points! That was with being one under my handicap after 7..... fell to pieces. Fortunately my playing partner played well.<br />
<br />
The group that teed off infront of us, one play holes out for a 2 (par four) on the first and then birdied the next three to be five under after four holes. Was cool to watch from a distance. came in at threee under. -
Played a corporate day on Friday. 4 ball ambrose. There wasn't a golfer amongst my group. We hit 18 straight pars, and came 3rd thanks to 4 max handicaps.<br />
<br />
I missed out on longest drive by 2m and put the golf cart into the wall and broke the steering. Fun day though. -
Boozing but not boozed. And yeah I'm getting a damage bill

I have one of them coming up next week, first time out for a hit in a while it will be!<br />
<br />
Trumpet blowing time; I played one last year where it had a longest straightest drive, I absolutely smoked one out about 310m, but I didnt win as the line you needed to be closest to stopped about 20m behind where my drive was, which was also perfectly straight too, mongrels! -
Yea. I got another one this Friday. I'm not driving the cart this week. <br />
<br />
That sounds like a cracking hit TR
