Classic TSF, two replies and already it's turned into a "who can have the most hedonistic weekend competition"Â <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

After squash I take it? -
The first Fatbusters casualty will be a cardiac arrest MvJ thinks, but not in the way we might have thought

Seriously though, any thoughts on beating the training blues or whatever it is, let's have them fellas. By squash I assume you mean the sport and not the drink which one might mix with a stiff vodka... -
Indeed. Squash, the sport.
Variation helps with the training blues. When truly concentrating on getting fit, I have to mix up the types of excercise I do or I end up flagging it. Thought about going a gym? -
Yeah, MvJ does not do gyms. Also of value is not getting ahead of yourself I reckon. Babysteps!!!
-
I had Nutella today. Nutella is bad.

I'll feel better tomorrow - going to the gym in the morning (the first bit of training I've been able to do since I got whacked by the Samoan dude) and Weight Watchers. -
This thread is well overdue. Now week 5 and total weight loss= 0.

Had the flu so drank, then getting over the flu so drank, then in Melbourne and Adelaide so had to drink. At least I haven't put weight on

Aat the pub on Friday night planned out a new regime starting today. Then got wasted and forgot it  -

I'm not joining your fat busters yet, but im trying to sort my diet out.

When im drinking now, I reach for the unsalted peanuts instead of the salt&vinegar chips or skittles.... its a hard change.Â

SEconded... With the HK 7's this weekend followed by a lads weekend in Bangkok over Easter, I'm not really sure where this fat busters thing can start for yours truly.

May? -
Well since I find it hard to motivate myself for a run (and generally hate it), I try and get in as many sports as I can. Play indoor netball & soccer 3-4 times a week, plus rugby trainings, etc.

Pre-season I did a lot of speed training which I quite liked as I worked up big sweats and also felt like I was achieving something, and would go no longer than 30 mins. Workd a lot on footwork, etc, so it's quite a challenge to be able to master certain variations of steps when you're as unco as myself.

Get yourself one of these from somewhere:
http://www.power-systems.com/nav/closeu ... ity/Ladderâ„¢

And some of these:
http://www.power-systems.com/nav/closeu ... &g=2504&12

And then do something like this:
http://www.google.co.nz/search?hl=en&q= ... ning&meta=

And you can make up a program or just try do stuff on your own from material on the net. Or else get a vid or a trainer for a one-off or something. -
While I haven't actually joined fatbusters I've been keeping an eye on the thread, did most of my fat shedding last year so I could actually 'do' some pre-season work (ie get fit) for this season.

As a person who absolutely hated running (flat feet and short legs!!) I've worked hard to change my ideas about it which started with getting some decent running shoes, starting out on grass (not weed) rather than road running, and waiting till I'd dropped a few kegs!!

For you guys going through the low motivation hours/days/weeks etc don't get too down if you have a bit of time off - you can fark yourself if you overtrain so it makes sense to work some breaks into your schedule. Those health and food shows are right (curse them) the easiest way is to adopt exercise (in whatever form) into your schedule so that it doesn't require you to change your entire day etc... you'll be far more likely to stick to the plan and once it becomes routine you'll be amazed at how easy it is to maintain...

It's been bloody good to see people exp similar problems and stuff with getting fit and there's nothing better than hearing some dude has dropped the extra tire and is chasing the old lady like an 18yo!!!

keep it up boys and I look forward to some success stories in the upcoming months (no pressure <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />) -
OK fellas, called in some professional help on my various fatbusting issues, in the form of a bro-in-law who is a personal trainer/gym owner in Sydders.

Firstly, he believes that the knee problems I'm having that I described to him are due to the patella not tracking correctly in it's movement. This apparently causes pain throughout the whole knee. Why, you ask? Because the vastus medialis which is the inside muscle of the quadricep down by the knee is not as strong as it's opposite muscle of the quad, the vastus lateralis. The vastus lateralis is therefore pulling my kneecap out. Therefore, the vastus medialis is the muscle I have to strengthen up.

Having reached that conclusion, he's given me a series of exercises that I can do to strengthen it, which might even allow me to make a part time return to running-based training.

Included in his suggestions are squats, single leg squats, and step-ups. He's also devised circuits I can work on that includes these and others such as pushups, abs, and chin ups. He recommends a session that lasts 40-45 min, and anything significantly more than this means you're not working hard enough in the time.

Happy days, I can get back into it after developing the speed wobbles. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
