Papali'i has been huge today. Auckland loose forwards are so good at this level.

I believe the exact phrases were
    "Smell ya' later"
    and

EDIT MOD: That doesn't get posted here.

Wasn't trolling. Just because you disagree, doesn't make it a troll and it's a bit sad that a differing opinion is considered as such.

I also said Auckland fans could get excited if they won this game, and now should but also keep it in perspective. We got out muscled at the breakdown which you won't see twice and our tactics in the backs assisted Auckland greatly. The long passes and Burleigh refusing to take on the line meant Auckland were rarely under pressure from 12 out and we gave them opportunities to attack our ball.

The finals will be interesting as we now have two revenge matches we'd like to take on.

@shark So whenever you lose a game its a revenge match the next time you play them? Arrogant much? By that notion Wellington would see playing you again as a revenge game as you put it.

The pleasing thing about this game is that we can play better. There was still a lot of errors and a few missed opportunities.

The pack has been marginally better week after week. Hopefully that trend continues.. Whetton must get a Blues contract.

Great to see Ruru finally having a good game after moving north.

@SammyC has been talking about the limitations of the Canterbury backline. This game was more evidence about of what he was talking about regarding Cameron and the midfield. I don't understand why certain Cantabs were disagreeing so strongly.
The Auckland defence was good, but limited players made shutting down the Cantabs easier than it should of been

Well done Auckland ... clearly the better team up front and in the backs

Great day drinking in the sun regardless. Cameron, Burleigh, beard can fuck off, pathetic

Surely what Canterbury are really missing is Robertson.

That his move upstairs lead to both an improvement there and a drop in results at provincial level is coincidental?

He won't be in charge for the finals either.

Useless Auckland bastards - lock up the win and then throw bonus points around like a coked up Las Vegas winner! 🙂

On the plus side - my tipping is good. When you have a man of @Crazy-Horse's expertise and another man like @Stargazer who listens to rugby commentaries in his sleep it's worth listening.

@mariner4life Brighter than Mel Meninga! 🙂

@chester-draws Robertson wasn't there last year either, but they still won.

    http://www.canterburyrugby.co.nz/newsarticle/53690

Lots of names and experience missing from that starting XV for the final.

Funnell, Bird, Harmon, Whitelock, Mo'unga, Thompson, Bateman.

Auckland: Tuipolotu, Tuungafasi, Ioane (R) -- would make a massive difference

@sammyc Larry the lamb decided to come over and sign my hat haha. But great win, great to finally go to a game down here where we've won, it's usually miserable going to an Auckland/Blues game down here.

Thought Lemalu was huge again stopping their rolling maul. He really has made a huge difference for us there and the Cantabs barely tried to take us on there after that. We outmuscled them for once across the field and didn't get dominated at set piece which also goes a long way. Tumua Manu surely has to be signed by the Blues next year. He shut down their outside backs brilliantly and was a constant threat on attack along with TJ Faiane. Ruru was also fantastic behind the scrum I thought. Annoying to concede 2 late tries but can't be to fussy as we never win down here to begin with so we'll take that.

Hats off to Luke Romano for Canterbury as he was virtually a one man band today.

    @nzzp Moody, Taylor, Franks, Whitelock....

I'm talking about who's missing from last year's winning team.

Blow me down with a feather, we just defended two mauls effectively. How the hell can the Auck do this, but the Blues can't?

is this because it is Cantebury, and they aren't the same without the R?

    It's all Fa'atiga Lemalu tbh.

@african-monkey I'll be absolutely furious if they miss out on Manu. Real quality on defence, and solid all round. Just what the Blues need.

Ieremia, and assistants Sir Graham Henry and Filo Tiatia, have certainly got their mob ticking after more than a decade of disappointment.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/provincial/107123015/auckland-outmuscle-canterbury-to-continue-unbeaten-start-to-mitre-10-cup

I rated Ieremia until his stint with the Canes. But was never too sure whether it was him or Hammett to blame

But Filo was impressive with the Sunwolves. He was hard done by to get the boot after improving them out of sight after a poor start

And Henry as well. An impressive coaching set up

Of course it was Hammett. What planet are you living on?

Good teams tick over for a while when well set up.

At the start of the season who thought Canterbury had lost too much experience? (It's sounds like a good excuse afterwards though.)
