I'm cheering Taniwha on in this one big time.
Gone for them as an 'upset' in the tipping and after Wellington screwed up against Auckland I now need Northland to pull this off.

No pressure but the TSF Cup may ride on this game.

Waikato gone for a sizeable pack with James Tucker having been moved to no6..similar tactic to Hawkes Bay..I suspect there could be a forward drive or 2.

Great to see Northland score a 2nd try, but ouch, this is getting really ugly for the Taniwha. Not too sure what to think of this team. Looking good one game, and weak the next. Waikato on the other hand, look like nobody can stop them from getting promoted back to the Premiership.

About that intercept try from Tupaea: is he slow or is Kara Pryor fast?

That was embarrassing, can't recall last time we shipped that many too loose and too many unforced errors

3 of their tries were about 250m of running, such a shame as that was probably the best crowd since the 'stop the drop' game v BOP.

The old bonus point system is crap. There is no way Northland should get anything out of that match

Not one of the great days in Taniwha rugby ,talking to Matt Matich at the end of the game for some reason even he felt they were flat which is a bit hard to understand given the massive home crowd support that turned up and I must say it was awesome to see so many numbers so I am really disappointed for the supporters..!

I personally think the fact we have had to roll many of the same players because of injuries was a factor..where you look at Waikato and I must say full credit to them, they were able to change out 7 x players from the game against Southland,it’s bloody great luxury to have depth in this comp...
On saying all that some one on one tackles were disgraceful..what was worse Tana Umaga and Tony Hanks were on hand to see the Taniwha put in the worst possible shift.

On the bonus point ,I really don’t give a shit wether we deserve to be in the finals or not,the rules say if you get 4 x tries you get a bonus point..end of story..
Can remember Auckland hanging onto their Premiership status by scoring an extra bonus point against Canterbury after losing to all the Premierhip teams including the relegated Waikato team..!
Did they deserve to stay up..?,hell yes because they finished ahead of Waikato by way of guess what..a bonus point...

Yes the rules are what they are

However you’ll never convince me that a team who has been thrashed deserves a bonus point. Regardless of what teams are involved

@steven-harris think the writing was on the wall when Matich dropped that first high ball, as one of our best and most accurate performers over the past few years he had probably his most forgettable match (not finger pointing, just surprised that even he had a bad day) to pretty much sum up our day.

Still shaking my head...think it was 5 tries we gifted them, 5.

At one point in that 2nd spell pretty sure we had 2 props, 2 hookers and 4 loosies in our pack and then finished with 3 props, 2 hookers and 3 loosies...only in NOrthland haha

@steven-harris coulda done with Solomon at 15 today...playing a guy who played 10 all club season there not a good idea, dont expect he will recall his first start fondly
